Re: Issue with UK Masters Of Cinema Blu-rays. Maybe others?

Had a similar issue ripping The Expanse UK S1 and S2 blurays having similar title cards (with the S1 episodes additionally having a wasteful 15 minutes tail of soundless video after the end credits). Mastering error or laziness? Depends how the publisher handle the provided upstream video. Just used...

Re: Blu-ray movies inferior to Starz Movies

In regards to the framing differences you're essentially talking about Open Matte . For widescreen television, the aspect ratio of 16:9 was essentially chosen as compromise between all the aspect ratios in use. You're not loosing image on a bluray or dvd with black bars as you seem to perceive it bu...

Re: The Expanse Season 1 [UK] Episode Rips Have Hidden Extra Video

Sorry but it's like you read the title and not the actual post. Easter eggs, if this could remotely be classified as such, are irrelevant. The issue is the stream played by hardware players versus what MakeMKV ripped.

The Expanse Season 1 [UK] Episode Rips Have Hidden Extra Video

Bit of an odd one here, probably more of an authoring issue but I wonder whether MakeMKV could be processing it differently. For the UK release of The Expanse season 1, when compared to playing via bluray player each ripped episode has an extra chapter included which has a "Textless Elements&qu...

Re: FLAC Quality selection????

Just to note that for FLAC encoding using FFmpeg, which MakeMKV does, the compression level should really be set to maximum of 10 not the current 12 for flac-best. The FFmpeg FLAC compression levels 11 and 12 are not a FLAC subset meaning potential streaming and hardware decoding issues (some do exi...

Re: Location for profiles in v.1.12.0

It's just changing the default flac.mmcp.xml file and setting compression_level for flac-fast to 10 at this section; <outputSettings name="flac-fast" outputFormat="FLAC"> <description lang="eng">Save as FLAC (fast compression)</description> <extraArgs>-compression_level...

Re: Location for profiles in v.1.12.0

The profile files included with MakeMKV 1.12.0 seem to have been put into a /usr/share/MakeMKV/appdata.tar archive for some reason. I've been patching flac.mmcp.xml to increase flac-fast compression level from 5 to 10 (while flac-best with compression level 12, with FFMpeg as used by MakeMKV, is not...

Re: "ILLEGAL REQUEST" issues with Initio USB 3.0 based drive

Not to necro bump an issue but this is the clearest topic to add the information. These controllers were also discussed at MakeMKV on Linux and Copy Protection Key Exchange Failure . While you can use the AACS KEYDB.cfg to bypass issue, it causes BD+ to fail to find FUTs. After submitting dumps, Mik...
