So first you need to install OpenELEC. The standard IMG tools for Raspberry Pi devices work just fine.

Now, once that's done, your Pi will automatically have file shares visible on your network. Just go to:
\\[Your Pi's IP address] or smb://[Your Pi's IP address]

Once you're in there, there's a folder inside called "Update". Go here:

Download the latest build. There's a download link for each date for "RPi" and "RPi2". Get the one for the Raspberry Pi model you own (the 2 came out a few months ago). Download the file and then copy it into the Update folder.

From there, just restart the Pi (unplugging/replugging will work just fine). OpenELEC will automatically update itself, and your system should be able to play 3D MVC-based MKV movies without issue.

Awesome thanks going to order my second pi this afternoon they make a decent htpc and seem to be more reliable than my windows htpc. I also am running emby server as my backend with mine...

So, what's new in the world of MVC MKV? Besides nothing?

Any progress getting most HTPC's to be able to use this format? OR are we still stuck with a less-than-simple Russian program or buying $50 devices that can do the trick our $1000 machines can not?

Has Stereoscopic at least gotten any better in terms of controls, subtitles and so on?

I gave up and bought a raspberry pi 2...

Dts is a work in progress not sure what formats are supported as i use a bluetooth headset via a bluetooth streamer [openelec does not support bluetooth audio streaming native]. I ripped to mvc with either dts master or hd and i get audio so i guess dts works. I doubt my bluetooth device does any sort of transcoding... sorry cant be my help. mvc 3d plays fine via wifi or wired on lan btw

Hi all. New to this forum. My question: I run Plex Media Server on a dedicated server. I use a Roku 3 box, connected to my 3D compatible receiver. I use a 3D ready DLP projector. This type of projector only supports Frame Sequential.

I Frame Sequential something MakeMKV supports? Like, does MakeMKV rips the SBS/TAB/FP formated file to FS?

MakeMKV isn't an encoder, it just passes through whatever video is in the source. For BD it's MVC, for MKV it's whatever was in the file.

Thanks for the input. In other words, once a 3D bd is ripped it is a question of finding a transcoder to finish the job, right? Like ffmpeg?

FFMPEG doesn't decode MVC as 3D.

You'll need specialised software.

just buy a Mede8er X3D and be done with it, plays MVC MKV flawlessly, HD audio passthrough, Dolby atmos passthrough

I have a HTPC with many bluray MKVs and also 3D MVC MKVs from my own Blurays and I just bought a licence for that Stereoscopic Player which i thought would allow me to play these 3D MVC MKVs to my Sony HW-40ES 3D projector but it doesn't appear to work at all.

The HTPC has an AMD 7000 series card specifically designed for HTPCs with a passive cooler and latest AMD Radeon drivers.

Does anyone know should I be able to get the proper full resolution frame packed 3D (which triggers the projector into 3D mode itself using special HDMI commands) using this setup or is it not possible?

It appears to me to be a problem with AMDs 3D graphic driver software - I mean the only option to me that makes sense in Stereoscopic Player is the "AMD HD3D" output mode but it does nothing with this setup.

Is it AMDs HD3D software that's the problem? Have they given up on it? All documentation on this subset of their drivers appears to be years old...

I've only had success using Intel 3D stereo and nvidia with Stereoscopic Player. Never tried AMD but make sure the drivers are the most recent as always.

Well from what I read NVidia appears to have some sort of 3D setup and test pages in its drivers config software, whereas there is NO mention of Bluray 3D type output anywhere in AMDs software.

HTPC doesn't have an Intel cpu either so...

Is AMD Catalyst software just useless for this? Anyone know? And yes I have the latest Crimson update.
