Subtitles are removed

Hi,

When I make an MKV, all subtitles files are removed.
When I check with media info, there's no more subtitles tracks present in the MKV.

I've a message in makemkv that said that tracks (no specification) were removed because they're empty.
And the number of track removed is the same as the numbre of subtitles track.

Can you help me ?

Thanks in advance

Chrisbati

Hi,

I've tried with Pavtube bytecopy and MKVtoolnix on the same files, and subtitles are OK.

Take a look at this topic: http://makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16405

What do you see for selections when you expand the title information?

Usually, MakeMKV will offer to make subtitle tracks that contain JUST the subtitles that have the "forced" flag set, and it's incredibly rare to have any marked-forced subtitles, so the empty tracks are removed.

But, unless they're improperly marked, or you have a filter that excludes them, MakeMKV will pull subtitle tracks just fine.

Hi,
thx for your answer.
I've seen that post, but in my case, whatever i've tried with the selection of the subtitles, it won't worked.

here's a link to what I have:

OK, with that selection box, what your log shows makes sense - the "forced only" subtitles were empty, so they were removed, but you should still have 3 subtitle tracks in the MKV file.

What are you playing the file in that says there are no subtitles?

A modern version of VLC should definitely detect PGS subtitles. Not so sure about Media Info, because I keep reading about its limitations. But VLC doesn't list any tracks when you click on Subtitle->Sub track?

From the picture you have selected six subtitle tracks (3 tracks with the forced part with are extracted from the normal track and the 3 normal tracks). The Make MKV msg indicates that only 3 of the 6 are empty and removed. So the other 3 subtitle tracks must be there.
Please note, you must select the subtitle track in VLC if no default language settings for subs are set in the settings.

Some more infos:
Because I'm currently rip a Blu-ray, the first log MSGs from MakeMKV in your listing cannot be correct. The MSGs shows that TrackIDs #2 #3 and #4 are empty and removed.
If this is a Blu-ray and the Forced Check Box and the Normal Check Box is checked (as shown in your later provided picture), MakeMKV uses always an pair of TrackIDs for one subtitle Track. So f.e the Forced becomes TrackID #2 and the Normal becomes TrackID #3 and so on. With this, MakeMKV has allocated TrackIDs #2,#3 and #4,#5 and #6,#7. If no Forced subtitles are in the Tracks, the TrackIDs #2 #4 and #6 are removed during closing.

I don't know what you have ripped (a Blu-ray with Name "Unknown"?), but this does match the provided information.
