Hi there. I searched the boards a bit and couldn't find this topic, so I'm hoping I'm not duplicating a question.

I'm trying to find a way to rip a blu-ray where it will leave the background music and the main dialogue as separate audio tracks. I read on another forum once that it was possible but I'm not sure what to look for in order to do it (or if MKV even supports it)? I also realize that some blu rays only have the one audio track, so I guess my general questions are:

1. How do you separate out those tracks?
2. Does background music vs dialogue have generic names for those tracks?
3. How can I tell if I'm wasting my efforts?

I ripped one blu-ray and the audio files that showed up were "English (DTS-HD MA) (5.1 ch)" and "English (AC3) (2.0ch)"

Thanks in advanced.

Then you want to rip only select BBC disks, because they're the only ones where I've seen a separate sound track.... Everything else has all the background, music, and dialog mixed into the primary track.

However, even on the BBC disks, the background music is mixed in with the primary audio track; it's only separate for those who want the music.
