This has already been discussed in multiple posts. For example, see here:

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=17092&p=60792&hilit=WH16NS60#p60792

Specifically at the post from "mike admin" who is the owner/developer of MakeMKV. That drive with its stock firmware is currently NOT supported for UHD ripping/decrypting by MakeMKV. Once it's supported, Mike will advise/announce. For immediate support with that drive at this time you need to use different software.

EDIT: Or you can try crossflashing it to make it UHD Friendly drive instead:

And speaking of multiple posts, you can always return it, and buy a drive that just works. I think the link is in my signature.
The count is 8 and I'm out, 8, let's go team!

Anyone know if the ASUS BW-16D1X-U is blu-ray friendly?

No, the ASUS BW-16D1X-U is not capable of doing UHD. It's even mentioned on the first page or so of this topic as not being capable, because I tried it.

Thanks for the information, but I still don`t get it why this drive won`t read any uhd disc even in windows (not only in MakeMKV software), because BU40N suppose to be an UHD Bluray Drive.

Then that may be a more localized hardware/software problem OUTSIDE of MakeMKV on your end. This is the MakeMKV software support forum and how UHD Drives directly relate/function with this specific piece of software for decrypting/ripping, not a general hardware/Windows support forum. There are thousands of those types of forums readibly available already.

Couple basic general suggestions:

Are you 100% sure the drive is hooked up and mounted correctly to your PC?

Connected to a completely different PC behaves the same way?

Try searching on Google or other actual hardware/Windows support forum to see if there are known issues with your hardware/OS combination.

Return/exchange the drive.

Try LG support.

the chances you take buying open box:

Preparing an RMA for LG.

Model BH16NS40, svc code NS 50, rom ver. 102**

**rom ver. now reported as 1.03, serial number altered as well, requesting replacement from the same build date OR restore factory loaded firmware to match the sticker. current firmware revision unusable with my current configuration**

Odds of success: maybe 50/50 :-)
