Blue Ray - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAIL

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions form me on this problem. I get the same problem on every Blue-Ray disc I try.
Running Win10X64. It has never worked.

I tried running MKV with admin rights.
Tried running on a VM, Win7 and win8
tried some OLD blue rays as well as new ones.

Does it work with ANY BD? Does it work with DVDs?

What version of MakeMKV are you running (that was chopped off in your log)? AACS v42 has been "solved" for several years.

It sounds like your drive has been exposed to a disk with a higher version of AACS than MakeMKV can handle, and has locked out BD functionality. Unfortunately, Hobbit isn't the one (it's v42).

Have you tried playing any particularly new disk in that drive? You don't even have to try ripping it - if the AACS has MakeMKV's key in its revocation list, the drive will refuse to accept it for ANY BD access.

MakeMKV 1.10.8 can handle AACS through v63, I believe (it's on the download page). If there is a newer version "in the wild", Mike will need information on it to fix things. What's the newest releases you have?

to my knowledge, the Hobbit is the newest one I have put in my computer. I don't normally get BD. Just starting to get a few.

I'm not sure, really.

Do you have any software in the machine that lets you PLAY BD movies on the computer? Some times, such software uses a "driver" that can interfere with other programs accessing the drive.

I'd suggest contacting Mike (the author) via email at support@makemkv.com and including the AACS dump file that was generated and saved as C:\Users\Master/.MakeMKV/MKB_v42_The_Hobbit_An_Unexpected_Journey_Extended.tgz . If you have other dump files in that directory from attempting to read other BDs, he might ask for those, too.
