Re: Billy Lynn and Black Hawk Down - Tripple Layer Issue?
I use three Asus ASUS-16D1HT drives for my UHD BD ripping. I've never had an issue ripping triple layer discs with them.

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT 3.03
I used the old method from Spring 2018 to upgrade my Asus BW-16D1HT to be UHD friendly. I did two drives in Spring 2018 and one in Summer 2018. All three drives have been rock solid with reading my UHD BD titles. I've ripped over 225 UHD BD titles with them so far. Is there any reason for me to upgr...

Re: HDR colors muted on HDR enabled TV
Note that HDMI 2.0 does not have enough bandwidth to handle RGB (or YCbCr 4:4:4) at 10 bits (which is apparently necessary for HDR) and the result is exactly as you have seen. Note also that this is not just with an HTPC, e.g. if you set an Oppo 203 to RGB (the default is YCbCr) you get the same de...

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS55
After struggling with my very old (12+ years) PC to get it into non AHCI and get DosFlash to read the drive in the Windows 7 USB stick I now have a dump of my drive. My PC doesn't have a setting to labelled IDE or ACHI I actually had to enable Auto Detect / Raid, I vaguely remember having to change...

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS55
Thanks again Teddy for all the info. I just got a third Asus BW-16D1HT from Ebay today. Using your instructions and programs with the Windows method it only took me around four minutes to do everything with the drive. What takes a long time is booting to windows from the slow USB drive I'm using. Bu...

Re: Help Finding an Slim ODD
I currently have two Asus drives in VANTEC USB 3.0 enclosures. But I would like to be able to add a slim drive to the PC so I could rip three UHD BD titles concurrently. I'd rather get an internal one if possible then another drive in an external case. Because it's much cheaper for the internal driv...

Re: Possible to have MakeMKV see Virtual CloneDrive as frien
It should work either way though. I've done it both ways without issues. Although I had Any DVD HD decrypt it before using MakeMKV.Woodstock wrote:Additionally, why bother mounting the ISO file? Have MakeMKV open it.

Re: Increasing ripping speed
I'm seeing slightly faster ripping speeds from my Asus Drives since I removed them from my USB 2.0 enclosures. I had seen up to 30MB/s(240Mb/s) speeds in the USB 2.0 enclosures. But now attached to the SATA ports in a PC I've seen up to 36MB/s (288Mb/s) ripping speeds. But I've still only ripped aro...

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS
Thanks again TeddyRaspin!! I got a second Asus BW-16D1HT. This time from Newegg. I flashed the firmware today, again using you instructions. And it is reading my UHD BDs without any issues. Just like the Asus I got from Amazon. The Newegg drive had a February 2018 Manufacture date just like my Amazo...

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT Firmware
I just ordered this drive from Amazon since they have a $25 rebate. You won't see that rebate. Trust me, already been there. I've received rebates from Asus in the past without any issue. Hopefully I'll get this rebate. Especially since I ordered a second Asus BW-16D1HT last night from Newegg. Whic...

Re: UHD ripping to external drive
Just curious .. anyone ripping to an external USB3 hard drive .. any issues? I am asking this as I do not have a free slot available to plug in an internal drive and would like to connect an external USB3.0 drive and have MakeMKV rip directly to the external drive. Thanks! I'm using a USB 2.0 exter...
