Re: Custom firmware pack with LibreDrive patches

(LibreDrive firmware support is not yet available for this drive (id=61645DFEFB5D)) Is there some kind of utility we can run to provide information to allow creation of a patch for a specific drive? do you know the drive model number? It's an LG drive. The Source field on MakeMKV says: BD-RE HL-DT-...

Re: Workflow improvements?

Re #1, if you right click on a higher level item in the titles view, there is an option to unselect everything. (just going from memory here, don't have MakeMKV and a disc in front of me atm)

Re: Malicious Damage Caused by MakeMKV?

In cases where someone takes some software and wraps theirs around it and uses it in the background, that is not legal unless the license allows it (it usually requires credit be given) or explicit permission is obtained. So if an MakeMKV update includes code to detect this and stop itself from work...

Re: Why is MakeMKV in beta?

Playlist deobfuscation is the only major feature I can think of that is missing. Everything else is either media protocol and key updates, or something that changes the purpose of MakeMKV. Since no one has an automated general purpose playlist solution yet, I have to assume it is rather complicated ...

Re: No beta-key for June -2016

New version of MakeMKV comes out every couple of months. They come out when new code is ready. This is separate from the beta license. I don't see any indication MakeMKV is shutting down or going on hiatus. The free key being late happens too. The extra charge for non-USD purchases is put there by t...

Re: LEGALITY DISCUSSION (US)

That's not true because it doesn't make sense. It doesn't have to make sense, like someone said, welcome to Crazy Law Town. You have two laws that appear conflicting. On the one hand, you are allowed to make a personal backup copy. On the other, you are not allowed to circumvent copy protection. Un...

Re: Help required with Atmos

Specifically regarding Handbrake, yes, it does not currently handle Atmos. You can still rip it from the disk, and use eac3to to recode/downsample it, then mux it back in.

Re: change metadata information

There are also tools based on the mkvtoolnix/mkvpropedit CLI library that can be used to edit MKV file properties, such as JMkvpropedit.

Re: should I rip 5.1 or 7.1

In general you want to retain the highest quality you can for your viewing scenario. If you don't know what that scenario looks like, or want to future proof, and you don't care about disk space too much, save the highest quality tracks available that your playback supports as input, and let your pl...

Re: Payment Options

The payment processor is not the best, but it is what it is.

For the time being, you can use a US HTTPS proxy or a US VPN node to force payment in USD currency, instead of your probably wildly inflated local one.

Re: Ripping blu-rays with "in-movie experience"

Either it is in another content track elsewhere on the disk, or it might be streamed from their website. I always thought "live content" was from online, not pre-canned on disk.

Re: Wanting higher resolution

If you're comparing head to head, then the differences are up to the player. MakeMKV just copies the streams. During mkv playback, there might be some on-the-fly transcoding happening. DVDs, especially the older ones, were targeted at CRT displays, so they tend to be very noisy and saturated. This d...
