Re: I'm sorry, I can't figure out this Libredrive thing.

What about the LG WH14NS40? The firmware pack already has the firmware included for that drive. I can handle flashing it myself at this point, my only issue is that my current drive couldn't handle it. I assume the LG WH14NS40 can handle it then? Plus it's $30 cheaper than the ASUS BW-16D1HT. yeah ...

Re: I'm sorry, I can't figure out this Libredrive thing.

I'm not gonna lie I'm actually terrified of spending $80 on a drive and flashing more firmware provided by this site that has already bricked my current drive. Understandably according to you it was due to the age/manufacture of my drive, but none the less it left a very bad taste in my mouth. or t...

Re: Custom firmware

Yeah, that sounds a little too scary and I'm not enough of a technogeek to even understand what's being discussed in that thread. I guess I'll just hold off until things become clearer and easier for me to understand. Is DE 1.00 or MK 1.01 safer for me? probably but even if that were to happen all ...

Re: Custom firmware

mike seems to really like the 3.10. Are there pros/cons to each of these 3 options. I absolutely don't want to lose any of the current functionality. Which one would you recommend if you were in my shoes? i haven't tried the 3.10 personally yet but mike says it has no sleep bug so i consider it the...

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS55

Obsolete or not, it seemed to work great on a wh16ns40 (sc50) a couple of weeks ago. Yes, I made the usb boot windows 7 environment, etc. Only thing different was the .rom that I picked for this drive. So what gives? one more piece of advice. dont flash back your original firmware if you use the tr...

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS55

I did what I thought was a flawless downgrade to a clean v1.02 firm for an LG LH14NS40 (SC50) drive. No errors with dosFlash. However, now the drive does not regocnize any disk. MakeMKV sees the drive properly, with 1.02 firm as well. It animates when you remove a disk... but, no regognition of a d...

Re: Recommended drives (2019)

I'm pretty technical (software engineer) but this is outside my realm of expertise. I had not heard about the 'sleep bug' etc. It sounds like pre-configured drives may be the easiest approach if they are available. Is that the case with the WH14NS40? (I'm not sure what SVC NS50 ONLY means either......

1.(First stupid question: Was I supposed to select the " Decrypt video files " option? I was trying to do a bit-copy of the disc just to test it out first.) 2.I got a few ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - AUTHENTICATION FAILURE messages at the start, before ripping took off in ...

Re: BU40n differences?

Is any LibreDrive information available for it? If yes, please post everything (except the serial number) and I'll tell you what you have. If no LibreDrive info on main screen, then do the following: With version 1.14.3 (important!) open any BD disc. Quit MakeMKV, look at log file. You will see the...

Re: Used discs worth it?

I just got a new drive. Asus BW-16D1HT. Flashed it and ripped my first disc (spider man home coming). Went to rip a second disc (The Revenant) and kept getting readerrors, tried all the things I found in the forum and finally set up a return with Amazon. The 1080p disc ripped fine. That got me thin...
