Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
Apologies if this has been asked a million times before, but these profile things (which I know nothing about)...
It seems there are DV profile 5 and DV profile 8 and maybe lots of others. Does 1.15.3 always make one particular profile or does it vary depending on I don't know what ?
Thanks.

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
1. Do I need to re-rip anything? In my searching on this thread before I put my post up it seems a few months ago there was a new release of MakeMKV that was important to use for DV playback. MakeMKV 1.15.1 supported DV, but in a proprietary way that the author invented. Once the MKV spec itself wa...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Can I just ask please if there are any Dolby Vision Demo files available (preferably mkv's) to test with the modified Exo Player.

Re: Track length in The Last Ship
Wondering if anyone might have any thoughts, as it turns out ffmpeg will shorten an episode nicely, but it also makes audio track 2 (the long one) disappear completely, according to MediaInfo, and I'd prefer to keep it. Thanks.

Re: Track length in The Last Ship
Seems like using a bit of ffmpeg works, which is good.

Track length in The Last Ship
Hi. Have acquired and started ripping the The Last Ship bluray box set, using 1.15.2 under Windows. So far, for Season 1, all the episodes are the same length 45m38s but the episodes themselves of course vary. It seems that, similar to here https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=22568 the...

Re: Same episodes, different duration
Interesting. Thanks for the info. Most likely the Pal disc played speeded up then.

Same episodes, different duration
Don't know whether I should ask in this forum, but you chaps know a thing or two about videos , so - I ripped Inspector Lewis DVD using MakeMKV (I think, it was a while ago), and now I'm ripping the bluray versions and it seems the bluray versions are longer than the DVDs. Looking at some of the epi...

Thanks for all the help folks, including the hint about the update tool.
Hopefully I'll have a go in the next few days, but if there's one thing I'm good at its prevaricating...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Guide Updated 2020
Thanks very much. Yes, I use MakeMKV. So hopefully, when I'm brave enough to try, that will make the command as per your video - makemkvcon64.exe f --all-yes -d D: rawflash -i C:\Users\ME\Downloads\(Modified) ASUS ODD FW Changer (24.08.2019) + UHD Friendly Firmwares + Latest MK Pack (15.04.2020)\mk-...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Guide Updated 2020
Apologies, as I'm sure you get these questions all the time, but - Have just bought (but not yet installed) a BH16NS55 with firmware 1.04 on it, which seems to mean additional downgrade checks but not encrypted. So, looking at the new instructions (and older bits) and new video, it seems there is a ...

Re: Star Trek TNG
Seems to have worked so far, touch wood. Only Handbraked Season 1 Disc 1 but its chopped the blank ending off OK - finishes with CBS thingy then the end. Its probably just luck in that I'm just keeping all the English tracks and it seems the longer ones causing this little glitch are European / Japa...

Re: Star Trek TNG
Well, not sure what you mean by playback environment, unless you mean using vlc. Also haven't got as far as the episode you mentioned yet. OTOH, using MediaInfo to look at the episode 'The Battle', it says General Duration 46m03s, Video Duration 45m30s, Audio #1,2,3 Duration 45m30s...But Audio Durat...

Star Trek TNG
Am finally catching up with ripping The New Generation bluray box set. Am wondering if anyone found (for season one so far) that the length given is invariably longer than the length of the episode i.e. the episode length (in vlc) is 46m03s (a popular number) but the actual episode finishes about 30...
