Re: The Expanse Season 4 Bluray Region A - Episodes/chapters out of order
^ Yes, I’d agree that it is lazy authoring. On the other hand, it is kind of cool to watch the Expanse credits sequence (and other CGI bits) without the text elements. I’m just getting into these UK releases now, looking forward to comparing them to the US releases for PQ. In season 2 I think there ...

Re: Mulan(2020) won't rip
From the stickied FAQ: MakeMKV says that "the volume key is unknown for this disc"? MakeMKV produces an AACS .tgz dump file whenever you try to open a disc for which the key is unknown, and will report that the dump has been created. Email the dump file to svq@makemkv.com. I see a movie di...

Re: The Expanse Season 4 Bluray Region A - Episodes/chapters out of order
the resulting files seems totally out of order and makes no sense when watching them. Whats amiss? In cases like this, it's usually the user's understanding of the disc structure that's amiss. I'm waiting for my import copy of this to arrive, and I can advise further when it does. Or, I can take a ...

Re: Trouble Ripping UHD discs
I'm having the same errors recently. Checked DNS and Firewall as mentioned in the postet thread(s). I can open Discs I opened before though, no idea if this is hinting to anything. Any further ideas? Yes, for any discs you previously opened, those keys will already have been downloaded to your syst...

Re: Trouble Ripping UHD discs
These messages indicate that MakeMKV tried to download the latest keys, but failed. You may have a firewall or DNS issue. If you have an antivirus program running, it may be blocking the download.

Re: Total Recall (2012 Remake) - 4 Main Features
Any idea? I am ripping all four of them for now. :) It looks like you have a release of the Extended Director's Cut. I don't have quite the same disc, but similar in terms of the playlist naming. (I have the Mastered in 4K release and the Extended Director's Cut release from Canada.) I'm going to g...

What is the country and specific release that you have? UPC/EAN? I'm assuming you have an original retail disc.

Re: A list of movies with forced subs?
Gonca - that is one of the many disappointing lists that only list movies, not where in the movie they engage Are you looking beyond the first "tab" in the spreadsheet? There's Blu-ray, DVD, and TV Shows tabs, and they have timestamps and a description for every one. It's a bit strange th...

Re: 'Nother Newbie Inquiry: What exactly are the advantages of bdmv file over the mkv file, and vice versa?
There’s little advantage and multiple disadvantages to going with the source m2ts files in the BDMV directory unless for some reason you want to keep the original disc structure. MKV is a robust container format and MakeMKV losslessly copies the stream data into it, so if you want the highest video ...

Re: Watchmen, HBO correct playlist
Wouldn’t expect obfuscation. Likely different versions for some reason, such as extended cuts, different audio done as separate playlists (commentary, or a separate playlist for Japanese), etc. If there are different segments you should look at which segments are different and then check those segme...

The summary by mattpr here (a few posts down, and I post a few clarifications following that) is a good one:

Re: Mission Impossible TV Series Blu Ray Episode Numbers
Nice! I've been considering getting this. However, you might want to consider changing your default naming and number by source ID instead of by title ID. Title ID doesn't match up to anything on the disc, it only reflects the order that MakeMKV loads eligible titles, and the numbering of title IDs ...

Re: Drive refusing to even read Spider-Man (2002) DVD
It sounds like an issue with the drive recognizing the disc since it’s not just MakeMKV giving you an issue on this particular disc. So it’s either the disc (despite the disc looking physically okay) or it’s your drive reading the disc (despite the drive working on other discs). One thing I’ve done ...

Re: Supernatural season 2 disk 3 error
Have you tried opening the disc more than once? Have you disabled any other programs (or Windows automatic actions) that may be trying to access the disc at the same time as MakeMKV? I also find that an old DVD-only drive can have an easier time with DVDs than a newer Blu-ray drive, if that’s an opt...
