Re: LG BH16NS55 Firmware

A GOOD SATA connection is preferred, as your USB2SATA adapter appears to be incompatible. 3 Options: - Troubleshoot "very touchy" SATA connection. - Use another PC w/ a GOOD SATA connection. - Acquire a 'recommended' USB adapter/enclosure (see Guide ). My recommendation. How you proceed is your call...

Re: LG BH16NS55 Firmware

@d00zah Thanks for your quick reply. It's very appreciated. My stupid mistake was cross-flashing the desktop drive with the slim drive firmware. I realized the model I had flashed it with was a slim drive, after the fact. That's what I get for getting impatient with it not wanting to flash with the...

Re: LG BH16NS55 Firmware

I really hope someone can help. I basically was stupid when taking risks that ultimately led to a drive that still is detected in Windows. Makemkv even shows my drive to be Liber Info: Status Enabled. Drive Platform MT1959. Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled). Firmware version 1.03...

Re: How to install the LibreDrive patched firmware for BD drive, in linux?

Thank you for the info. I have made some progress with it. My drive firmware is 1.03, so I assume that the approach geared to 1.04, mk-firmware-pack-20200214, is the one to use. From: Linux How To: Flash ASUS-BW-16D1HT I got as far as getting sudo makemkvcon f --help to work. I still struggle with ...

Re: command line utils for flashing my new Archgon UHD?

2. Is there a way to tell just by looking at what info is displayed here if I should use the 'enc' flag? My take, after reading over that thread, is that once a drive has been flashed w/ v1.04 (new, encrypted), it will only take an encrypted FW going forward. Since you are starting from v1.01, I'm ...

What is LibreDrive? "A LibreDrive is a mode of operation of an optical disc drive (DVD, Blu-ray or UHD) when the data on the disc are accessed directly, without any restrictions or transformations enforced by drive firmware. A LibreDrive would never refuse to read the data from the disc or declare ...

Except this one in MK folder : HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BH16NS60-1.00-NM00500-211804030945 but I don't know if that's the same drive than WH16NS60.
'BH' (retail, boxed) vs 'WH' (OEM, bulk)... same HW, for all intents & purposes. That FW is fine.

Re: 'UHD Friendly' BDW (Asus BW-16D1HT) not Detecting UHD Discs

Also, most of my 4K UHD Blu-ray discs induce MakeMKV to output this: The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted Failed to open disc UHD FAQ Refer to the 'Hashed Keys - How do I discover the key for a disc I have?' section. Disregard any references to manually downloading a '...

Re: 'UHD Friendly' BDW (Asus BW-16D1HT) not Detecting UHD Discs

I would think this covers your case (almost) exactly... you have a later version of Ubuntu. Linux How To: Flash ASUS-BW-16D1HT It includes an indirect link to the latest MK FW archive , which contains 'ASUS-BW-16D1HT-3.10-WM01601-211901041014.bin', a patched MK version of your drives current FW. You...

Re: Getting error from Malwarebytes 'website blocked due to phishing' when opening MakeMKV

I added an exclusion for 'hkdata.fairuse.org' ages ago. MBAM is flagging the entire 'fairuse.org' domain, over which MakeMKV has no control. Somewhere in this forum, there s a lengthy discussion (or 2) to that effect.
