Re: Cant Rip certain DVD and 4k Bluray

For the DVDs: do you have Closed Caption subtitle tracks selected? Use of ccextractor to process these is a recent feature. If ccextractor is not installed properly the program becomes very slow. Try unselecting the CC tracks. They are separate from ordinary subtitle tracks and are at the bottom of ...

Re: Arch: Application failed to initialize

I always built from source when I was on SuSE. It always worked but Arch makes it easy.

Re: Arch: Application failed to initialize

Did you install the version in the AUR:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/makemkv/

...or build it from your own source?

Re: HiDPI support

Can you say more about this?

What you want is not part of the metadata found on DVD, Blu-ray, UHD, is it? MakeMKV can't do anything about that.

Re: super slow rip

If you don't select a closed caption track I don't believe ccextractor needs to be present. If you have slow speed without this sort of track then is must be some other issue.

And don't forget, with the conversion of HDMV/PGS subtitles to VOBSUB/IDX the higher PGS resolution is lost.
I used to use BDSUP2SUB; it makes hidef VOBSUB subtitles equivalent to the PGS originals.

Re: Juliet, Naked Redbox correct DVD playlist

vlc reports the correct title as "70". MakeMKV says: Title #70 was added (17 cell(s), 1:37:21) And this closely matches: Source title ID: 59 Duration: 1:37:21 Chapters count: 17 Size: 5.4 GB Segment count: 1 Segment map: 2-18 File name: title_t03.mkv My other backup utilities were not able to copy t...

Re: Extracting subtitles

ccextractor will not be used unless you select a CC track. They are marked clearly.

Re: Extracting subtitles

Also, I would very much like to see a BD sample with CC. If you have one, please write to support@makemkv.com . Done! ( Firefly tv series, Mr & Mrs Smith (2005)) Another nice thing about CC on DVD is that players have more flexibility in rendering them. Graphic overlay formats like VOBSUB for DVD a...

Re: Extracting subtitles

The feature makes closed captions available; up until now they have been invisible to MakeMKV. If you want to extract the tracks for inspection you would use ccextractor directly. It will produce a text file of the track in SRT format. Closed Captions are an earlier form of subtitles embedded in the...

Re: 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi

I use VLC on the .m2ts file. (After using the MakeMKV "Backup" function to make a complete BDMV directory).

I just noticed that the third title is a .m2ts file, not .mpls like the others. I hadn't realized that MakeMKV would show those as titles.

Re: 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi

I have 800 and 801 on a Redbox rental. It is not marked as a rental special, but I don't know if there are multiple versions. Note that the oddball 1070 playlist is 1h54m, not 154m. Its sole segment is the same as the first part of the other two playlists. The only differences between 800 and 801 is...
