Re: Text file showing BD specs such as average bitrate, audio tracks etc.

The one in my post looks more organized that I can have Mediainfo display the details?

Text file showing BD specs such as average bitrate, audio tracks etc.

Does anyone know what software is used to generate something similar to what is shown in my attachment?

Thanks,

Re: UHD Friendly / Official 4K

I see.

If I get the ASUS BW-16D1HT, I would still have to do firmware downgrade in order for it to read / rip 4K?

I just realized: I can't seem to find any info that my BDR-209D(BK) supports BD-XL? Isn't BDXL compatibility required for even the slightest chance of my drive becoming UHD Friendly in the future?
No answer to this?

Re: UHD Friendly / Official 4K

I already sent in a dump of the firmware. So if you need a drive working now with UHDs, better go with the Asus. Update: with the new 1.46 release MakeMKV starts to read an UHD but then says that a libre-compatible drive is needed... Do you get a "keep fingers crossed" status on the right...

Re: UHD Friendly / Official 4K

My advice is to ditch backing up optically. It is unreliable and more expensive per GB. If you have a reasonably large collection backing up to HDD makes much more sense providing you triple your redundancy - high initial investment but pays you back in under 3 months with media costs in mind. If y...

UHD Friendly / Official 4K

Hi all, I have a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-209D revision 1.34 which works great fore 1080P BDs. However, as 4K disc releases are increasing in number, I was wondering if there's an inexpensive, easy way to get a drive that will do this? Previously, I was told on this forum that my current drive cannot be ma...

Re: Simple way with GUI to Re-encode from VC-1 to h264, h65 or anything "Plexable"?

I can't put it any other way: with hardware players capable of playing this content there's NO NEED for conversion. You would simply playback the files from your NAS. Well, seeing as VLC for Android won't let me choose the Danish audio track or any subtitles included in the MKV, I'm converting for ...

Re: Simple way with GUI to Re-encode from VC-1 to h264, h65 or anything "Plexable"?

Tried with VLC on the Sony TV: No problems with VC-1, it seems... However, some reason VLC on my TV can only "see" and play one of the two audio tracks within the MKV: I ripped the CW to have Danish Audio as standard (for the sake of my son) and the original English as a second track. Also...

Re: Simple way with GUI to Re-encode from VC-1 to h264, h65 or anything "Plexable"?

I'd rather invest in cheap media players that can handle VC-1 instead of wasting time and energy on conversion. Plex would then simply deliver the content without on the fly encoding and you can watch the original rips. My Synology NAS IS my Plex Server, so is it possible to have anything BUT Plex ...

https://forums.plex.tv/t/batch-converting-vc1-to-h264-mkv/166921/3 says you can do it with mkvtools. YMMV. Good Luck. Doesn't say HOW.... as far as I can tell My bad. Some how "MKVTools" became "MKVToolnix" in my brain. I found MKVTools, and it seems to do the job. Thanks,

Simple way with GUI to Re-encode from VC-1 to h264, h65 or anything "Plexable"?

Hi all, I enjoy MakeMKV for ripping my original discs to my Synology NAS / Plex server. I have ripped Star Wars - The Clone Wars Season 1-5 for my son (and myself) to enjoy via Plex. Problems is that some episodes (basically all from Season 1 and some from Season 2) have the VC-1 codec, which means ...
