Re: External Drive?

I just passed on my tower PC to my son and put my Asus drive into an OWC Mercury Pro enclosure connected to an Intel NUC, and it’s working perfectly, was even able to install the latest MK firmware over USB.

Re: Subtitle default mkv flag handling

Just checking in on this again. Looks like the behavior still exists in 1.15. Any updates? if you go to install location of 1.15 and replace libmakemkv.dll (libmakemkv64.dll, libbmakemkv.dylib etc) with a version from 1.14.5, then you will get a latest and greatest MakeMKV GUI/decryption/processing...

Re: Please note... ...is not supported

I run a couple of Vero’s as well as an OSMC Pi off a NAS backend hosting the Kodi database and media. The OSMC version of Kodi is very actively supported and most of the time the Vero “just works”, to the extent that the whole family uses them with no issues. You get passthrough audio on hi-res form...

Re: Switch off Subtitles During Playback by Default

And still no explanation of why the defaults have changed since 1.14.5? Clearly this has caused a number of users some inconvenience.

Re: Subtitle default mkv flag handling

I get that it’s possible to fix this post-rip via a header editor, my main point is that up to 1.14.5 perfect authoring was possible via makemkv itself, whereas now I need to be more alert to the need to fix afterwards. It would be nice to hear if the functionality change is deliberate, if the downs...

Re: Subtitle default mkv flag handling

Posting on this again as I do feel there has been a functionality regression in 1.14.6/7. I will use Game of Thrones Series 1 bluray as an example. Up to version 1.14.5, behaviour was as follows: Episode 2 (first of many episodes with forces subs embedded in the main sub track). I select PGS English...

Re: Subtitle default mkv flag handling

Hi I edited the profile using notepad++ and makemkv had a log entry that the profile was in use during ripping. I could tinker with this some more but 1.14.5 just works, so I will stick with this for now. It would be good to hear if the change has been an accidental regression or done deliberately f...

Re: Subtitle default mkv flag handling

ok, I dropped down to 1.14.5 and everything "just works" when it comes to subtitles, without any profile hassle, so I will stick with that for now as I don't need AACS 2.1 support.

Re: Subtitle default mkv flag handling

Thanks @grauhaar for referring me to the other posts. Perhaps as more people post about this, it might be considered whether this change in default handling could be reverted back to what it was. I followed instructions to create my own profile and selected it in my Preferences. I opened a disc and ...

Subtitle default mkv flag handling

Hi, My usual ripping workflow is to tick both my main language subtitle track and the forced version. (I should clarify I am very familiar on the subject of separate dedicated subtitle tracks to provide forced subtitles, e.g. as common on Marvel titles, I am focusing here on the handling of forced s...

Re: ASUS BC-12D2HT

I believe there are two versions of this drive? Mine is a 2016 model and it reads UHD discs as the factory firmware is friendly, I keep this one in reserve in case my daily driver Asus ever gives up. but think there is an older version with no UHD capability?

Re: Audio Problems with Bee Gees One Night Only Blu-ray

I only have two titles with 96khz audio and they both rip fine, so I'd assumed that 96k is not an issue, but curious to hear how you get on with the Bee Gees title.

My Fair Lady special edition bluray: 7.1 TrueHD
Queen at the Bowl DVD: 5.1 DTS

Re: Subtitle process (MakeMKV and Handbrake for Blu-ray)

Likewise I tend to pop a disc that might have forced subs into a an actual player first as this can give some clues.

As mentioned, most titles handle this via a dedicated track. Game of Thrones uses forced subs on many episodes, embedded in the main track, as per Avatar.

Re: Beware : New official 3.10 firmware for ASUS BW-16D1HT

I have an Asus BW-16D1HT on factory-fitted 3.00 firmware, i.e. it is already UHD and LibreDrive friendly. It sounds like there is now a way forward for getting latest firmware without losing these key features. However, I'm a bit nervous about doing that as I don't have any issues with the drive. If...
