FLAC profile has no entry for regular DTS

As per subject line, MakeMKV 1.15.1 FLAC profile has no entry for regular DTS 5.1. I had to add it to my own profile in order to convert.

Re: Correctly recode PAL 25fps dvds to standard 23.976 fps

ok, one more post on this, in case it helps others. As noted above, I found a couple of titles where the re-encode is unwatchable due to poor lip-sync. I fixed this by using the FLAC profile in MakeMKV, it turned out on one title there was a 480ms delay on the DTS soundtrack that needed to be filled...

Re: Correctly recode PAL 25fps dvds to standard 23.976 fps

I just noticed for a title where the lip-sync failed that the extracted source audio .mka file has a duration that is almost a second shorter than the reported duration of the source mkv file. So this would explain why the lip-sync goes wrong with downstream processing. Does this give a clue as to h...

Re: Correctly recode PAL 25fps dvds to standard 23.976 fps

I've now re-encoded quite a lot of 25fps dvds in this way, and most of them have worked fine. I have a couple where the lip-sync goes completely wrong, both in VLC player and in Kodi. Anyone have any ideas on what might have caused this, or how to fix? Also, I noticed that when I updated Audacity fr...

Re: Correctly recode PAL 25fps dvds to standard 23.976 fps

When I first installed Audacity I could only output to stereo. Go to Edit \ Preferences \ Import/Export, and change to "Use Advanced Mixing Options". Early on when experimenting with this I had a re-timed 5.1 DTS track that broke the 4GB limit for WAV files. FLAC is unlimited, and of course smaller,...

Re: Correctly recode PAL 25fps dvds to standard 23.976 fps

I’ve had great success using this method with many R2 DVD titles. I have been exporting the audio to FLAC to avoid further transcoding. I had to tinker with the options in Audacity to allow that option. The final mkv in effect contains a “48i” video stream. I was delighted to find that my Kodi Pi’s ...

Re: Libredrive version v6

Is this going to be an issue for drive lifetime, in which case this should be a user-selectable feature?

Asus BW-16D1HT here on MK 3.10 firmware in an OWC Mercury Pro enclosure via USB 3. Tested blu-ray and DVD - warp speed!

Speed before was always solid, but it's flying now.

Re: Forced Subtitles

Suppose the title’s main language subtitle track has forced subs embedded within it (many episodes of Game of Thrones, MI Fallout, Avatar,...) then as noted, makemkv creates a second track containing these if you tick the forced box. This is marked in the mkv file as the default sub track (VLC playe...

Re: Correctly recode PAL 25fps dvds to standard 23.976 fps

I just came across this thread and want to thank the OP for posting a very helpful guide. A couple of small remarks: it seems to me that it's better to export the re-pitched audio from Audacity to PCM. If we start with a lossy source like Dolby Digital, exporting to DD will require a re-compression ...

Re: External Drive?

I just passed on my tower PC to my son and put my Asus drive into an OWC Mercury Pro enclosure connected to an Intel NUC, and it’s working perfectly, was even able to install the latest MK firmware over USB.

Re: Subtitle default mkv flag handling

Just checking in on this again. Looks like the behavior still exists in 1.15. Any updates? if you go to install location of 1.15 and replace libmakemkv.dll (libmakemkv64.dll, libbmakemkv.dylib etc) with a version from 1.14.5, then you will get a latest and greatest MakeMKV GUI/decryption/processing...

Re: Please note... ...is not supported

I run a couple of Vero’s as well as an OSMC Pi off a NAS backend hosting the Kodi database and media. The OSMC version of Kodi is very actively supported and most of the time the Vero “just works”, to the extent that the whole family uses them with no issues. You get passthrough audio on hi-res form...

Re: Switch off Subtitles During Playback by Default

And still no explanation of why the defaults have changed since 1.14.5? Clearly this has caused a number of users some inconvenience.
