Audio & Subtitle Track Names in Plex....

I took the time to edit my MKV-based movies in MKVToolEditor. I set the header names such that the audio and subtitle tracks describe the content. The new track names are beautifully presented in VLC. So, how do I get Plex to show the audio and subtitle track names? Having 5 subtitle tracks in The S...

What is "SEG"?

I'm looking at Addams Family BD and I see "SF" and SEG". I'm assuming that SF = Special Features and that DS = Deleted Scenes. But, what is "SEG"?

Thanks.

Re: MKVToolNix for Dummies....

Expand Audio Track by clicking on the arrow. Click on Name in the expansion and change the Current Value to whatever you like. After you save that will become the new track name. Experiment - poke around and click to find things. You are ABSOLUTELY correct. The interface was confusing to me. Now I ...

Re: MKVToolNix for Dummies....

After selecting Header Editor on the left, I see no way to make edits. I see the values but they seem to be read only. How do you edit with the Header Editor?

Re: MKVToolNix for Dummies....

I keep stopping the job at about 20% because I was seeking another way to save my simple edits..... Here is my output file screen.

I still feel like there is a better way.

Thoughts?

Re: Why so many subtitle tracks?

Woodstock, thanks for the feedback, yes I think you're right. The song lyrics don't show on track 4 as they do on track 1. You nailed it! When editing with MKVToolNix and you just change the names of audio and subtitle tracks, does MKVToolNix have to write the entire movie to disc? I ask because I w...

MKVToolNix for Dummies....

I used MKVToolNix to edit some names of audio files and Subtitle tracks and then I clicked "Start Multiplexing". The job output pane says this will take 2 hours to complete! I thought I recall making such edits before and the save was very fast.

What could I be doing wrong?

Thanks!

Re: Why so many subtitle tracks?

On further inspection it looks like: -TRK1 = "Main" Normal subtitles... -TRK2 = "Commentary ST with Julie Andrews" -TRK3 = "Sing-Along" only... -TRK4 = looks like same as TRK1 so far. Yet MediaInfo shows far fewer elements... ? -TRK5 = Main & Sing-Along... I guess one of the mysteries is the differe...

Why so many subtitle tracks?

I ripped my BD copy of Sound of Music and I have all these subtitle tracks. Can you explain the purpose or how you handle having so many? It looks like at least two are nearly identical... What is PGS? BTW: I want this to work well being hosted on my Plex server... Suggestions? Is it better to use a...

Re: Keep DTS-HD MA Only?

So, what audio tracks do you save and/or regularly use?

What tracks are really on the Blu Ray? You mentioned that MakeMKV writes out a separate DTS track so I’m getting the idea that it’s more than a straight copy of raw data.

Thanks,

Re: Keep DTS-HD MA Only?

I'd like to hear from others... I'd like to know which audio tracks they are keeping... It seems that DTS HD MA is way better then regular DTS or AC3 and that there is no reason to keep the lesser quality tracks. I suppose if I was trying to play this file directly on my iPhone it would be a problem...
