Re: StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

When did consensus on VLC become unfavourable? It was the go-to media player not all that long ago.

Re: StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

It's screwy in VLC on my PC as well though.

Maybe VidCoder has a setting for reading them and retaining them, then. I've never used it. I do know chapter markers generally have to sit on an I-frame so it has to be handled at the encoder level.

Re: StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

I'm aware of that, but that doesn't explain what M and N are.

As far as re-encoding, that means a) quality loss and b) chapter-point loss.

Re: StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

So basically I can't ever watch these on my TV?

Not sure what picture structure is, or what M and N mean. I've only heard of I, B and P.

Re: StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

I tried putting it on a USB and plugging it straight into the TV. Same problem, so it's definitely not emby that's causing it. I've attached a photo of what it looks like on the TV, this is after a minute and a half of continuous playback. It's looked like this the whole time (albeit with the blocks...

Re: StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

@Woodstock: It shouldn't, but it's the only difference I can think of between these DVDs, which are having GOP issues on PC and playback issues on my TV, and all my other DVDs, which are fine.

@d00zah: I'm in Australia, 99% of my DVDs are PAL. Everything else works fine.

Re: StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

@Woodstock: All my other DVD rips can be skipped around just fine. They also play back perfectly through emby. I'm guessing there's a connection between those two things. @d00zah: I'm starting from the beginning and playing the entire first minute or so, I'm not skipping around. All my other DVD rip...

StudioCanal Early Hitchcock Set

These all successfully created MKV files, but when I skip around it gets really blocky and horrible for a second or two, as shown in the attached screenshot. It's irritating but workable on my PC. On the other hand, when I play them on my TV through emby, they're like that for the entire duration of...

Issues Ripping Dial M for Murder in 3D

When I look at the available titles on the disc, excluding special features, I see four listings that each have 28 chapters and a runtime of 1:45:24. Two are 26.0 GB Mpeg4, two are 37.1 GB Mpeg4 with an additional Mpeg4-MVC-3D listing. When I rip these, I get four video files that are all 2D. The tw...
