Re: Pioneer BDR-212DBK, works for rip UHD discs?

Let him run makemkv and look at the result what it says about the drive. At $17 I guess it's a DVD drive and not a BD / UHD drive.

Re: Mission Impossible 3 UHD rip failed

Looks like a dirty disc even if it's new. Clean it with soap and warm water. Clean then again with a microfiber cloth used usually to clean glasses. Try again.

Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri

Pick the patched ASUS flasher and flash 3.10 MK. If you have critical discs to read you can always flash 3.02 or 3.03. And then even back to 3.10. No problem. For normal purposes there is no limit for flasing back and forth. However, cycles for flash cells are limited. But you don't do that a couple...

Re: Pioneer BDR-212DBK, works for rip UHD discs?

Let him run makemkv and it will tell if the drive is supposed to be ever supported by LibreDrive. I doubt it... On the other side: Pioneer drives are very good burners. If you want to backup discs on discs this is the burner to go for. But most likely you need a different drive to read UHD discs. Go...

Re: ASUS BW-16D1HT FW questions

That's not my experience. Maybe with discs that read perfectly. My experience with critical discs is that the older firmwares stay longer at lower read speeds if there are any read errors compared to 3.10 and are therefore more successful to provide good copies while 3.10 tries to speed up again and...

Re: UltraHD firmware version for Asus BW-16D1HT with 3.01 firm.

I doubt you have 3.01. The oldest I'm aware of is 3.02. Most likely your came with 3.10.

Take the ASUS flasher and flash 3.10 MK from here:

Re: ASUS BW-16D1HT FW questions

Both should work with your drive. Sometimes the ASUS is needed for newer firmwares that don't allow downgrades. But since you are already on a MK firmware both should work.

You can easily flash the versions back and forth and test yourself. Just a matter of seconds and a reboot after it.

Re: ASUS BW-16D1HT FW questions

The 3.10 (MK) firmware rips faster than 3.02 and 3.03. However, if you have critical discs with read problems then the older ones perform better. I have one drive on 3.03 and another one on 3.10 for both reasons mentioned.

See at bottom of the page. 1.02 enables flashing MK firmware without to have it cross-flashed first to another firmware.

Re: AACS 2.1 support

Yeah - makemkv has the option to back up the whole folder which retains also DV.

It would be nice if makemkv would have the option to do protected ISOs of non-supported discs w/o invoking 3rd party programs. Otherwise I'm happy with it even not using the .mkv functionality.

If you are in the US look here:

If you are in EU I recommend a USB3 -> SATA adapter from Sharkoon instead of an enclosure.

Let me know.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 8 4K Blu-ray (Triple-Layer Issue)

GoT S8D2 triple layer disc in EU ripped with no issue - after cleaning the disc - with Makemvk 1.14.7. Drive is a LG16NS55 cross-flashed to ASUS with 3.10 MK libre drive firmware.

Re: AACS 2.1 support

@mike admin, I mentioned this already in various unrelated other posts. The mkv file format doesn't cover all features anymore that are available on UHD discs today. Especially DolbyVison and HDR. Therefore I use makemkv only to decrypt UHDs and copy to folder w/o converting to mkv. My opinion is th...

Excellent point, SamuriHl.

The Christmas wish list for mike gets longer, if you ask me: Making protected ISOs directly from Makemkv.
