Re: Custom firmware pack with LibreDrive patches

A minor but important suggestion. The flasher tool is not included anymore. Please include either the LG or ASUS flasher in the top folder.

Thank you!

Re: Manufacturing Defects as Protection?

As woodstock outlined: Even if an UHD disc seems to be prestine - there might be some substances on the surface that prevents or makes it difficult reading the disc. In such cases i wash the disc with liquid soap and hot water. If afterwards reading is still difficult (data rates are slow) I add an ...

Re: UHD support

Maybe your firewall settings prevent Makemkv to access the key files. You should check that and if blocked allow Makemkv to make the connection.

Re: Unable to read 4k discs lately.

Guys,

I was wrong. I thought you have the BH16NS60. If you have the BH16NS40 my information is wrong. However, you need a drive that is BH16NS40 with service code NS50. Please check the label on your drive and respond. W/o service code NS50 your drive is not UHD capable.

Re: Unable to read 4k discs lately.

Question: You use Makemkv and it doesn't read the disc? AnyDVD won't. It only can use "friendly drives". Your drive is not "friendly" but official. Flash it to ASUS 3.10 MK and check if it doesn't work either. Repeat laser cleaning and disc cleaning. After checking all these options I would also be ...

Re: Optical drive keeps disconnecting

The most likely reason is the enclosure. The firmwares are in most of the cases outdated and create problems. Please google for firmware updates or let me know what is the detailed version of this enclosure and I will google. Only second option of course!

I guess you forgot to reboot after flashing 3.10 MK.

Please try again and reboot. Should work then.

@nj54567,

There is updated firmware that will fix the problem. No -of course it will not compromise the enclosure. Just make it better.

Re: Custom firmware

Hell! I hate it being being held up... Windows updates were scheduled. 1809 to newest patches. SamuriHL- yes, I'm still not patient and I had to try that still this evening. Brilliant news! At least the ASUS BW16D1HT 3.03 MV version from Mike is looked at being "UHD friendly" by the Fox and the Monk...
