Re: ASUS BW-16D1HT flash issues

The ASUS firmware is not encrypted. Don't use "enc".

Re: New PC build came with BH16NS40 - safe to patch?

You should clead all UHDs before inserting. Even brand new and looking pristine. Wash with warm water and liquid soap. Dry with paper towel. Wipe then with a microfiber cloth e.g. the ones used for cleaning glasses. Try again.

Re: Read Speeds? LG BP50NB40

No. As long as you don't have a USB2 disc drive writing to a USB2 hard disc this is not the bottle neck. USB2 per se if you don't use concurrent devices that share the USB2 speed the limit is 60 MB/sec which is not limiting your drive read speed.

No. You need to flash the LG compatible drives for ripping. This is a must.

If you want to burn the rips reliably you also need a Pioneer drive later on.

The LG drives only burn single layer BDs (25GB) OK. If you burn double layer discs (50GB) you will have read errors at the layer break. You will need a Pioneer drive and slow down burn speed to 4x, better 2x, for results without errors around the layer break.

Re: Correct way to convert 4k HDR rips?

You can use the free functionality of CloneBD to just extract the main movie. With the purchased version you can also transcode the UHD main movie to a smaller size and also to 1080 BD.

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2021

You should have read the instructions before flashing...Search for similar f... ups and how to repair with Dosflash. I'm still unhappy with the guide here. Stronger warnings for these old drives are missing.

Re: BU40N W/ slimline adapter disconnecting

This adapter only provides power to the drive and has no data connection to your computer.

Re: SDFtool Flasher

I still say that the UHD flashing thread is much too optimistic regarding flashing and the process is having too less warnings. Have a look at my guide here that goes step by step telling if it's safe flashing your drive:

If the drive is still covered by warranty - return it.

Re: WH16NS40 Stuck at 2x Speed

You need to rule out anything that's in the chain between drive and PC. Well, you found it but quite late and now you have to go through hazzles. Your bad.
