Re: Star Wars 4Ks

Last Jedi Freezes up at about 7gig mark. My guess bad disc no idea how to exchange. Try cleaning the disc with some isopropyl alcohol or glasses cleaner and a microfiber cloth (wipe out from the center NOT in circles around the disc). Often discs with no visible scratches/marks have a chemical laye...

Re: Bridge on the River Kwai

The only way to tell if it is a bad disc is to try it on another drive. Not UHD but I have come across BD discs in the past where my LG drive won't rip it successfully but my Pioneer drive can. Doesn't mean the LG drive is dead (as it can rip other discs just fine), just that sometimes the drive is...

Re: Bridge on the River Kwai

Thanks. No luck unfortunately (although it does sound like it’s getting closer to mounting, if that makes any sense). Any other popular Bd100 discs that you know of that I can try ripping to verify that it’s a drive issue? https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=294596 Huh. So my drive ripped li...

Re: Bridge on the River Kwai

A little tight on cash right now, so I'll give that a shot. Any tips on disassembling a drive? I'm handy but I've never done that specifically. https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=20569#p81082 Thanks. List of BD-XL titles

Hey guys, Curious to know how to tell if a disc is BD-XL, and if there are some popular titles out there which are known to be Bd-XL. Troubleshooting my ASUS BW-16D1HT Drive which has now failed to rip two copies of Bridge on the River Kwai, which I’m told is a Bd-XL title. My reasoning is, if my dr...

Re: Bridge on the River Kwai

Does it matter that the drive works with the vast majority of the UHD disc's I've ripped? Would you suggest just getting another drive of the same model?

Thanks.

Bridge on the River Kwai

Hey all, Looking for some advice. First copy of Bridge on the River Kwai in UHD failed to even mount in my otherwise awesome Asus bw-16d1ht. Had this happen once before (Last Jedi UHD). Followed my typical routine (tried cleaning the disc, then exchanged). Unfortunately, the new disc is also not mou...

Re: UHD Disks that Behave like They're Damaged

This happened to me with my first copy of Last Jedi. Second copy worked perfectly. I think some manufacturers are just sloppier than others in terms of leaving a film on the disc. Sometimes a careful cleaning (even if the disc looks pristine) will help. I returned my copy of Last Jedi through Disney...

Re: Any Updates on Ripping Last Jedi?

I was able to borrow a better copy from a friend which ripped perfectly. Hopefully Disney will replace my disc in the event that I need to re-rip in the future. Thanks for your help!

Any Updates on Ripping Last Jedi?

Hey guys, I know there's an existing thread on this, but it hasn't seen action in some time and I'm desperate to get this movie ripped. Using an ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.10 firmware. No issues ripping any other discs beyond the AACS 2.1 stuff, but with Last Jedi I'm getting random read errors that result in...

Re: Progress on AACS 2.1?

To be clear, I didn't mean this topic to come off as "why isn't this fixed!" I really appreciate all the hard work Mike's done on this program over the years. Being able to rip this stuff is fantastic, both as a matter of principal and convenience. For those asking why it's relevant... 4K disk playe...
