Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Hey reset I noticed that you have some new P7 FEL cmv4.0 rpus for films that released in cmv2.9. How am I able to do this with the dovi scripts? With the latest beta. You have to enable the 2.9 to 4.0 conversion of the original rpu at line 177 and then you can add a cmv4.0 bloc to any RPU with work...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Is there a point in me upgrading my SHIELD to Ugoos who can play FEL? Will there be a difference on my TV? Yes, The Shield cannot decode FEL so the brightness metadata will be wrong for some bluray. Plus the Shield has tons of problems. The Ugoos is a must-have if you want the best quality/accuracy...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

I know you said at one time you were taking your SDR 1080p and reencoding as HDR10 with DV you made IIRC - what about DV4 (SDR I think) - you ever look into making that? I can't even recall any real world examples found, so prob not, just asking. Well P4 is a dual-layer format and I don't think the...

thanks. So are P7 discs being released that have CMv4.0 metadata in addition to the 2.9,
Yes, its still rare but it seems there's more cmv40 bluray release lately.
Also, when the bluray is only MEL cmv2.9, I take the cmv4.0 rpu from web streaming.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

the player must support it otherwise it fallback to the cmv2.9 bloc. This is why the ugoos is a big deal, only device that support both CMV4.0 and P7 FEL

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Of course, it supports the latest CM version.
Ugoos + Coreelect is KODI only. There's no PLEX app but you can use an addon that will give you access to your PLEX library but the app playing the movies is always KODI.

Asking because I'm thinking about replacing my old OPPO UDP-203 (playing BDMV structures today) and I'm wondering if I get the exact same quality from converting UHD BDMV backups to mkv's and using an UGOOS instead?
yes it's the same quality. It's just two different ways of muxing profile 7.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Good evening, RESET. where does the release The Point Break 2015 DV-8 belong? Red or green or yellow ? both the 1991 and 2015 have retail FEL DV from the bluray disc. so before buying a new TV, is there a need to check for CMv4 support? I've not seen a spec sheet that goes to that level of detail. ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

You can only copy levels that already exist in the original RPU. So you cannot add a cmv4.0 bloc to a cmv2.9 rpu.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Hey RESET, is there a way to generate a P7 RPU with an xml file from resolve. Keeps defaulting to P8.1 Not directly but if you have the original P7 RPU and you used the original scene cuts, you can copy the metadata levels from your P8 RPU with workflow 2-6. I did it a couple of times for some stat...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Thanks for your response, one more question for you: You've noted that P5 > P8 due to the colourspace being equivalent to 11.5-bit YCbCr > 10-bit YCbCr. Is there a noticeable difference between P8 and P5, assuming that it's the same master/streaming quality, on consumer-grade 10-bit panels ? Simila...
