Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Also still waiting for a player which supports a format which can carry HD-audio (e.g. LPCM inside mp4-container) and DV, I hope the new Shield will make it possible. Or find a way to mux ac3+/truehd + atmos into a mp4 container. Now something else.. I heard there's a two kinds of DV dual-layer movi...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Well I tried to add the truehd track with MP4Box. So for the record: alita.dv.mp4 - The DV movie created with Dolby's mp4muxer (from the base-layer and enhanced-layer), only contains the two video layers truehd.mp4 - The TrueHD audio track muxed into a mp4 container with ffmpeg: ffmpeg -i bluray:./ ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

So I've compiled ffmpeg from git. I now saved the truehd audio track from Alita to a new mp4 container. Input #0, mpegts, from 'bluray:./': Duration: 00:03:28.21, start: 11.646667, bitrate: 2251891 kb/s Program 1 Stream #0:0[0x1011]: Video: hevc (Main 10) (HDMV / 0x564D4448), yuv420p10le(tv, bt2020n...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

I reported the issue where plex for lg webos transcodes the hd-audio stream on their forums. https://forums.plex.tv/t/please-dont-instruct-the-server-to-transcode-hd-audio/445944 I hope they'll fix it. No LG TVs support TrueHD, and it seems like the TV itself downsamples DTS-HD to DTS Yes thats why...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Well yeah but I'm doing it for the audio only. I have a lg c8 oled and a denon x3300w avr. The denon avr supports atmos audio and it can do DV passthrough to my tv. I'm currently playing my dv+lpcm muxed movies with xplay (plex) so I only get ac3 to my avr using arc. So using a player (sony x700 or ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Ah thanks again grencola for summing everything up. So I guess for now we can use DVDFab to merge both DV video layers together into a mp4 container, then use mp4box to add the lpcm audio converted from truehd which is basically still lossless but without the atmos metadata. Now I only need to get m...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Some questions: 1.If I select dolby digital plus for arc output, do you think the tv will try its best to convert the lpcm stream to a high quality 7.1 eac3 stream for my receiver? it should down sample the audio to its best supported format, but it would be no different than just choosing eac3 aud...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

So either MP4Box breaks the mp4 container when adding the lpcm audio or my LG tv simply doesn't activate Dolby Vision when it detects anything other than ac3 audio ? I did the exact same method (mux DV then add trueHD converted to PCM audio) with Fantastic beast 2 and it works. Dolby Vision logo on...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

So I did some quick testing using my Plex server and my LG C8 television. I've compiled ffmpeg, gpac (for MP4Box) and dolby's mp4muxer from source. Now when I take a look at the decrypted 4K bluray of Alita: $ ffmpeg -i bluray:. ... Input #0, mpegts, from 'bluray:.': Duration: 00:03:28.21, start: 11...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

So after reading most of this thread it's still not clear to me which is the most compatible format across different TV's, mediaplayer. I own a LG C8 and I compiled Dolby's mp4 muxer to remux the base and enhanced layers + ac3 audio into a mp4 container which plays fine on my device. But afaik Apple...
