Re: Help Asus BW-16D1H-U

What firmware version do you have currently? Does it starts with "A" i.e. A201 A202 or something like that?

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"

"Also the other tool from the polnish Webside doesnt recognize it neither." You have an USB enclosure that damages so-called INQUIRY data (drive model and version). While LibreDrive runtime is smart enough to detect this and recognize the real drive behind enclosure Id data, other tools are not. Yo...

Re: Custom firmware

With the MK 3.10 version, the so-called sleep bug is fixed, it seems to be quieter while reading discs, and yes, it still remains friendly thanks to Mike's excellent work. I've upgraded mine to the MK 3.10 version and will be leaving it there. For me it seemed to be much more stable at reading 3-la...

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT 3.03

WARNING: DO NOT upgrade the drive to the new 3.10 firmware that ASUS just released. Doing so will (for now) remove the ability to downgrade and remove LibreDrive compatibility. Until Mike has a chance to patch that firmware, but, there's ZERO benefit in upgrading to it anyway. Stick with the MK 3.0...

i flashed it with the BU40n-N folder version 1.02, works fine
Thanks for the confirmation. Overall, it seems that
N - USA
R - Taiwan
U - Europe

The exact differences (if any) are unknown.

LibreDrive library and SDF.bin

LibreDrive functionality is implemented as part of open-source LibDriveIO library (at the time of this writing the library source code is not yet released). One of the main design goals of LibreDrive runtime is portability and stability of the code base. For this reason, the LibreDrive logic is data...

Re: Beware : New official 3.10 firmware for ASUS BW-16D1HT

This turned out to be a very good firmware from ASUS (not by itself, but as a base for MK firmware). Please see viewtopic.php?f=19&t=19116#p72108

Re: Custom firmware

Firmware pack updated with ASUS firmware based on 3.10 (and its A204 clone) . It has few interesting properties:
1. Still "friendly"
2. Sleep bug fixed
3. Apparently other bug fixes by ASUS, as drive seems to be more stable.

Overall, this seems to be a best firmware for NS50 hardware for the moment.

Re: BU40n differences?

Is any LibreDrive information available for it? If yes, please post everything (except the serial number) and I'll tell you what you have. If no LibreDrive info on main screen, then do the following: With version 1.14.3 (important!) open any BD disc. Quit MakeMKV, look at log file. You will see the ...

Well, MakeMKV is signed in a sense that you can verify authenticity of installer files with a free open-source tools, by using a hash file - http://www.makemkv.com/download/makemkv-sha-1.14.3.txt .

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"

Back to BW-12B1ST from MK firmware pack or to official unpatched FW from ASUS site. You have an NS40 (or even NS30) drive, it will not read UHD discs ever.

Re: Beware : New official 3.10 firmware for ASUS BW-16D1HT

Version number 3.10. Dated 2019/03/08. Thanks for heads-up! The bad news - this firmware has an additional downgrade check, it will not accept the downgrade to 3.03 or any other DE firmware. The good news - this check can be bypassed, and a compatible MK firmware can be made. Stay tuned and do NOT ...
