Re: Need help with LG BP50NB40 blu-ray drive
Is your drive in an external enclosure? Can you power it off (or disconnect the power cable), wait a few seconds, and power it on again? I have occasionally seen drives get into a weird state; the thing that brings them out of it (usually) is to force the drive to cold boot.

Re: Attempting to flash in macOS
You must have a preference for accessing menus and whatever special features there are on the disc? Personally, I find getting rid of the menus to be a benefit. I prefer to rip the movie to a .mkv file and leave the rest behind. Some stuff I further compress to 10-bit HEVC or h.264 files. In any cas...

Out of curiosity, what do you do with the ISO? Do you have a player that plays ISOs?bachelorbob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 5:05 pmI have successfully copied (to an ISO image) the film '1917' from a UHD disc…

I don't know why, but it didn't happen for 1.15.4. Others have pointed out the same thing.

If you can return it to Amazon, that's probably the fastest and easiest.

Re: WH16NS60 in Mac Pro 5,1 Not Playing 4K Blu-ray Discs
I've never tried to play a 4K UHD from the disc; I've only ever ripped them and then played the resulting .mkv file. Does that work on your system? I have been able to occasionally get regular blu-rays to play via VLC, but it seems to depend on how complicated the disc's menu is. Simpler ones seem t...

Re: Ripping an ISO of a disc I own - volume key unknown?
MakeMKV downloads keys automatically if they are known. Did MakeMKV make a .tgz dump file? Email that to: svq@makemkv.com and the key will eventually be available.

Re: "Fake playlist" protection - help needed
If a movie has fake playlists, you'll know it when you go to rip it. Knives Out , for example, appears to have 100 or more various versions of the movie. Most movies only have somewhere between 1 to 3 titles that could be the movie. For example, Léon: The Professional , has two titles. One is the th...

Re: Jurassic World 5-Movie Collection UHD Rips with Playback Issues
The earlier suggestion to try MPV is still a good one I think. VLC seems to hide any errors it encounters during playback, but MPV will spew them out on the command line you launched it from. (At least, that's the case on my Mac.) Let me see if I understand the state of things. Please correct me whe...

MakeMKV has a thing called Speed Control. Also, reading UHDs is 'harder' than reading a regular blu-ray. There's more data crammed into the same physical space. If your drive is working fine, I'd be inclined to leave it alone.

As I understand it, WH14NS40 1.05 is encrypted. There is a MK version of that firmware. Put on the MK version and you should be good to go.

Re: "Fake playlist" protection - help needed
I assume Mike still wants emails when MakeMKV determines the incorrect 'main feature.' I emailed the requested data for Knives Out this morning. I'm pretty sure I found the right playlist from the relevant thread on this forum, but I'll have to watch the movie to confirm.
