Re: Top Load vs Slot Load vs Tray Load
My Pioneer BDR-S13UBK is probably my best drive. It is in a Vantec enclosure and connected via USB. Since I have multiple drives sitting on my desk, I prefer a tray loading drive.

Re: Failure to read Rocky & Bullwinkle Season 3 Discs 2-4 on 1.17.0+
There are different DVD Opening modes. Maybe MakeMKV is getting confused with the default opening mode.

Re: Step by step instructions
Hey I'm also confused! Noob here. So Make Backup makes a DVD image that I guess can be burned correct? Sure, if you like. You can also open the backup (or the disc directly) in MakeMKV and create .mkv files of the contents. You can create one .mkv of the movie and additional .mkv files for any 'ext...

Re: How to rip an .iso file with MakeMKV
So I will give this new theory a try, as soon as you let me know what "DD" is??? dd (Unix) can be thought of as a low level copy command in Unix. I think one of the complexities of trying to have MakeMKV create .iso files of blu-rays and UHDs is the UDF filesystem used on optical discs. M...

Re: Looking for UHD drive supplier UK
ASMCOM - I have purchased from them twice now and their service is second to none. How do you go about buying a drive from him may I ask? The website has nothing but a eBay link which doesn’t go to a eBay seller page. Here's their thread on this forum: https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?...

Re: Making data recovery easier
It is my understanding that MakeMKV uses the hashes to make sure that what's read from the optical disc is correct. This is probably the most likely source of error. Decrypting the files, combining them and writing them out to disk is unlikely to be problematic.

Re: Days of Future Past
Probably the optical drive is having trouble reading the disc.
The standard advice is to gently clean the disc and try again.
If the drive is powered by USB, it might not be getting enough power. Make sure both USB plugs are plugged into high powered ports.

Re: Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio 4K UHD, & The Roaring Twenties 4K UHD
It looks like Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio came out in December 2023. I would expect someone has submitted to the dump in the past and a key to be available, but perhaps you've got one from a new pressing with a different key? It is also possible that your MakeMKV is not able to reach the key serv...

Re: The volume key is unknown for this disc
I can't see your attachment; it didn't appear to attach.
But I'll guess that you got a key unknown error. You have to email the dump MakeMKV created to svq@makemkv.com.

Re: Ripping everything on disk
MakeMKV has a backup function that copies everything on the disc (in decrypted form, if you check the box) to a folder on your computer. You can use that backup folder and something like imgburn to make an ISO if that's your thing. Or, MakeMKV can open that backup and you can create .mkv files from ...

Re: Automatic HK download disabled or failed
My VPN has no servers within the Russian borders. It has some servers close by. I may be out of luck. I've read that the Russian Federation has placed heavy restrictions of information access since the conflict with the Ukraine started. Can the automatic HK download be moved to another server outsi...
