Re: BH16NS55 X-flashed to Asus. Writing BDs

I had a BH16NS55 flashed to WH16NS60 1.00 and worked fine for reading and writing. I'm pretty sure the "writing issue" is only when you have an ASUS drive cross-flashed with the WH16NS60 firmware. Correct. A few of us with the NS60 tried crossflashing to the BW-16D1HT firmware and lost the ability ...

Re: New WH14NS40 just bricked?

The firmware flashing didn't cause the issue, but, there's also no need to cross flash it with an ASUS firmware. Using the NS60 MK firmware should be sufficient I believe.

Re: New WH14NS40 just bricked?

That's not bricked, that's defective. Others have mentioned the drive quality is especially poor these days so it just seems like a bad drive to me.

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT Firmware

No need to post in every single thread. It will still brick the drive to try to flash it no matter how many threads you ask in.

Re: Unable to read UHD with friendly drives

You don't. Attempting to will brick the drive. It's too old.

Re: LG BH16NS40 bricked?

The NS50 svc code series of NS40 drives (god LG seriously?!) has the same chipset (more or less) as the NS60 drive, which is why it works. Those older NS40 drives do NOT have the same hardware, which is why they brick when you flash them. Yes, it's confusing. Yes, it's annoying. But, if you work thr...

Re: LG BH16NS40 bricked?

It's not exactly the same drive, no, but, the steps in the link I sent you are what you need to do. You'll need to find the proper firmware for your drive. It's around here somewhere but I don't know where offhand. Use search. But yea, the upshot is you need to use dosflash to extract your current m...

There is no UHD Friendly drive firmware fix for the sleep bug. The only fix is to flash an official UHD drive firmware.

Re: Soft bricked 1st gen WH14NS40

EDIT: I want to CLEARLY state that what I'm talking about below has NOTHING to do with the subject of this thread. This is for the NS60 owner in the above post ONLY. DO NOT try this on an NS40. Alrighty....let's begin, shall we? :) First mistake. This thread is for the first generation NS40 drive, w...

Re: Play UHD+Atmos on ATV 4K?

The Apple device supports MAT2.0 which decodes the ATMOS on the ATV so that it can inject its own sounds into it. It's not bitstreaming but it is ATMOS. Whether that is sufficient or not is up to you. Personally I like having my receiver do the decoding and bitstream everything.

Nice. Just leave the drive on that firmware going forward. Zero need to change it. New versions are not "better".
