Re: Select two language automatically?

Not really. If you rip

eng
deu

and flag deu as default yes, players like VLC will play deu instead of eng. But since not all standalones do this I also change to my preferred order

deu
eng

by adding the appropriate weights. Search for 'Changing track order in output file' where this is explained.

Re: Select two language automatically?

This prioritizes German of English and uses the HD audio track and forced subs are first:

app_DefaultSelectionString="-sel:all,+sel:(deu|eng|nolang),-sel:(core),-10:(forced*(eng)),-15:(deu),-20:(forced*(deu))"

Re: Resulting MKV files, start with subtitles activated

We've been over this recently in this thread: Switch off Subtitles During Playback by Default.

Re: Switch off Subtitles During Playback by Default

In the VLC settings a default subtitle language can be speified. But VLC does not check the "Forced" track attribute flag in the MKV header. Anyway, MakeMKV does not set the "Forced" flag for a track in the MKV header. VLC however DOES check for the default = yes flag in the header and will display...

Re: Automatic naming of audio/subtitle tracks tracks

Which won't work since MakeMKV does not reliably detect forced subs, unfortunately.

Only pick the 'Forced' subtitle of the language you want to read 'foreign' subtitles in. There may be multiples.
Why? If there's a single stream with forced subs where none are flagged (like on prett all disks I rip) the resulting stream will come up empty, right?

BDInfo might help with that.

Re: Subtitles won't display with Serviio -> Sony

DLNA sucks and some TVs cannot play back bitmap-based subs over it. You shoul rip an 1 minute clip with MKVToolnix and try various subtitle formats (Vobsub, SRT, internal/external) to see if that makes a difference.

Re: Subtitle and audio track naming

D'uh. Forgot to mention I copy the entire disks to HDD before ripping them. So when I playback the m2ts it's already been decrypted by MakMKV.

Re: Subtitle and audio track naming

You can determine them by playing the largest m2ts from the BD in VLC and see what stream numbers are the ones you need. That's of course manual work too.

Re: Subtitle and audio track naming

Since I'm always using the same order

forced
regular
director's comment (if available)

I don't bother to name them at all, same goes for audio.

Re: How can I determine correct subtitle tracks?

In 2019 I'm still using VLC to play the largest m2ts on the BD and check the subs manually. Usually I spot the SDH track pretty soon but there's still no way to do this automatically.
