Multiple versions of the same video, with and without chapters

I've noticed that when ripping some blu-ray discs, MakeMKV shows (and will rip) two different copies of the same video, where one has chapters and the other doesn't. I'm curious why that is, and if they're the same data otherwise?

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 4K

My copy of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 4K (US) arrived yesterday, and MakeMKV is unable to decrypt it. I've attached a dump for disc 1 (assuming all are the same?)

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 4K disc 2 - Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:INVALID FIELD IN CDB

I ended up getting it to rip successfully by re-flashing my optical drive with a different firmware.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 4K disc 2 - Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:INVALID FIELD IN CDB

I was ripping my copy of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 4K, and disc 1 ripped successfully, but with disc 2, I am getting these errors at about 7GB of data in the first file. This is after a fresh PC start, so neither the drive nor the PC were too warm. I'm not sure if it might be the disc or my driv...

Re: Star Trek IV The Voyage Home 4K (Amazon Canada)

I just bought the Star Trek 1-6 movie 4K blu-ray collection from Best Buy today and tried to rip Star Trek 4 from the 4K disc, and MakeMKV said it didn't have the key to decrypt the movie. Hopefully MakeMKV will be updated soon.

LG WH16NS40: Cross-flashing WH16NS60 firmware

I have a LG WH16NS40, on which I've downgraded to the 1.02 firmware and have been able to rip 4K discs. I've heard there are benefits to cross-flashing the WH16NS60 firmware on the WH16NS40 and am considering doing so. I've seen this thread which has a link to a MK firmware pack: https://forum.makem...

Re: Star Trek 4Ks (1-4)

I returned my set to Amazon and had them send me a new set, and I was able to rip Star Trek 3 without any problems now. I haven't tried the others yet though.

Re: Star Trek 4Ks (1-4)

If you got 11GB into the rip, the problem isn't with the decryption keys. Read errors are most likely the cause. When the drive says it cannot read the disk, cleaning is the first step. I tried a few times though and it consistently got an error about 11GB into the rip. The discs are brand new, so ...

Re: Star Trek 4Ks (1-4)

I'm in the US, and I just got the Star Trek 4K movies 1-4 set this past Friday. I have a LG WH16NS40 with LibreDrive firmware 1.0.5, and I'm using MakeMKV 1.16.4. I'm able to rip other 4K movies with it. So far I've only tried to rip The Search For Spock, and at about 11GB into the movie, MakeMKV re...
