Re: The Abyss 4K
Successfully ripped "The Abyss" 4k, FINALLY! Purchased copy from Amazon, used an LG WH16NS60 fw 1.03 on MakeMKV version 1.17.6 (latest) Did that copy of The Abyss have the stacked discs or the additional "page" inside the blu-ray case with each disc attached individually? Actual...

Re: The Abyss 4K
Recently, I was notified that Target's web site got some back in stock. I ordered one, and it arrived today. This one has a case with a middle tier inside, with each disc attached individually to its own side - No disc stacking. And I was able to successfully rip both the theatrical and extended ver...

Re: The Abyss 4K
I got an alert that Target has The Abyss 4K back in stock (at $24.99 + shipping). I bought another copy from them, and I'll try to rip again when it arrives. This will be my 3rd attempt.

Re: The Abyss 4K
Has anyone tried contacting the publisher of this release to ask about this and whether they'll replace the 4K disc? Some manufacturers have done that, and I've had DVDs replaced in the past that way. It sounds like this release is published by Walt Disney Home Studios Entertainment? I wonder if tha...

Re: The Abyss 4K
Is there a chance they could release a new version of The Abyss 4K that wouldn't have these issues? It sounds like it would probably be better for the case to be one where each disc could attach by itself and not be stacked on top of another disc. I've bought and returned 2 so far where I had proble...

Re: The Abyss 4K
I've tried buying 2 copies so far (one from Amazon and one from Wal Mart online) and both failed in different spots. I'm not sure if I should try ordering another one or waiting a bit.. I do eventually want to own this movie. Many stores seem to be out of stock on it right now though, and other plac...

Re: The Abyss 4K
I originally bought The Abyss 4K from Amazon, which arrived last week. I was able to rip the theatrical 4K version, but the extended version failed to rip at about 14 minutes short of the full movie. I returned that one to Amazon and bought one from Wal Mart online, which arrived today. The Wal Mart...

Re: Pioneer BDR-S13
The firmware can't be downgraded at present. So buying one on the open market is a very bad idea if you intend to use it for ripping UHD's. https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=20 Go there and look for a seller in your region. They should have them in stock with the proper firmware. Than...

Pioneer BDR-S13
I currently have a LG WH16NS40, which has generally been fairly good for ripping, but recently I bought The Abyss 4K and have had trouble ripping the extended version, as it fails toward the end. There's a discussion on here about it, and several posts have mentioned it might be a 3-layer disc and t...

If you're just interested in ripping, you shouldn't need a burner, do you?robert.gregory wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 3:56 pmWhere do we buy new burners? I have an LG. all discs rip except the abyss.

Re: The Abyss 4K
I ordered The Abyss 4K from Amazon, and it arrived on Monday. Yesterday I tried ripping it - The theatrical version succeeded, but the extended version failed right at the end. I tried the Backup option, and it said the hash failed for one file. I tried ripping the extended version from that, and th...

Re: Multiple versions of the same video, with and without chapters
If you highlight a title in the left pane (as you have in the picture above) and then look in the right pane, you'll see the "Source file name". If that file name has a .mlps extension then it's a playlist, or if the file name has a .m2ts extension then it's a transport stream. Also in th...

Re: Multiple versions of the same video, with and without chapters
When you say "of the same video" are you talking about multiple playlists (.mpls titles) or a mixture of playlists and transport streams (.m2ts titles)? Transport streams cannot contain chapters, they are mostly used as a segment (or segments) of a playlist (or multiple playlists), althou...
