Re: Strange corruption issue - MakeMKV's fault or bad HDD?
Had this issue rear its ugly head again, except this time on a different motherboard - Asus H87. This board is from the same generation of Intel chipset as my other Asrock Z97X board - 2014 Haswell socket. Here is a sample of the errors which occured today according to ffmpeg... Re: MakeMKV, just BUY it already.....
I'm in a similar position. We may get a new key shortly, we may not, but I get enough use of the software to make a purchase worthwhile. Someone - perhaps Mike? - has left a new BETA key under the tree, valid until the end of June 2024. I've noticed there's always a delay at the end of every 60 day...

Re: MakeMKV, just BUY it already.....
Is it normal for the developer to go dark for almost half a month? We're a small community, 2 weeks afk is maybe not that crazy. Maybe they had IRL stuff to do like moving house, health issues, or just super busy with other stuff. I just spent 2 weeks archiving 1TB of DVDs and got nothing else done...

In the meantime you could change the system clock which works on Windows (not sure about MacOS and Linux - can anyone advise?)

Re: LOADS of A/V sync issues
I rarely get those sync warnings, and I think they are generally benign as you have found. It's hard to say whether in the cases where the resulting mkv had a legitimate sync issue whether that was the mkv file being authored incorrectly or if the media player was not properly obeying timestamps and...

Re: DVD errors on two discs. Second layer of a dual-layer disc inaccessible?
Yeah I'd say give 1.16.7 a go, failing that try DVD Decrypter in IFO mode to attempt individually extracting the specific title(s) giving trouble, failing that try other DVD drives cause some of your comments sound like the disc(s) may be on their way out unless they just needs a clean (not that it'...

I like that you think I'm GPT. There's lots of people in real life that think I'm a fake person. When in real life; I'm old. I get info. I make a decision. I run with it until I hit a wall. Re: I found a “work-around” solution to “DVDs” that fail when you try to rip…
Should have called it YAFG - Yet Another FFMpeg GUI  Another one is XMedia Recode, but I have lots of issues with it randomly crashing. If you can work around the crashes it's okay. But I'm getting better at ffmpeg command line so I just use that instead. Actually it's very easy using LLM to te...

Your post count being 1 and the fact you're doing this whole anticipation/buildup thing to finally steer the reader into the reveal of "this one app that works" leads me to believe I may be reading the result of a LLM prompt

Re: [Attention devs] Disc compatibility regression?
According to the changelog, introduced in MakeMKV v1.17.0 (27.6.2022) - A new, rewritten DVD engine - much better handling for discs with structure protection Announced here: DVD opening modes - CellWalk, CellTrim, CellFull To the best of my knowledge, this feature remains WIP. IIRC, people have ha...

Re: [Attention devs] Disc compatibility regression?
Well the OP in the second report has just now advised that it was a false alarm. The first report is kind of ambiguous as the disc itself appears dodgy, so I wouldn't get too worried about it. The third report is definitely legit though because I can reproduce it. So something was changed between 1....

Re: Twilight Zone Complete Series DVD rips
Exact same issue here with the Region 1 of The Twilight Zone, Season 1 Disc 2, and rolling back to 1.16.7 solves it. But I don't think it's purely MakeMKV's fault as there is definitely something wrong with Season 1 Disc 2 as my best Asus drive will not recognise this particular disc at all, whereas...

[Attention devs] Disc compatibility regression?
It appears something was changed in one of the releases which may be hurting disc compatibility, here are 3 reports from this month where rolling back to a previous version restored compatibility https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=33777 https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic....

Re: Unable to rip DVDs from a specific distributor
I am able to rip the disc in MakeMKV using older version 1.16.7 (hosted at videohelp.com).
As there are other reports of this happening with other discs I'll make a new thread for that topic.

Re: Beginning of Avatar Way of Water chopped off
Thank you for the suggestion, however, that did not work. The first six cells were still removed from the start. What happens if you go into manual mode and paste this string in: t:@1-@6 which supposedly means to only extract cells 1-6 from title t (replace t with the actual title number of the mai...
