Re: Oppenheimer (2023)
I put them there. :) You mean you bought this Blu-Ray twice ??? (Were you expecting a different ending the second time ;)?) I was actually wondering how the DiscIDs could be different, because wouldn't that imply that this release has multiple master copies? Curiously, I've also observed different ...

Re: Oppenheimer (2023)
I am curious - isn't this disk scheduled to be released on November 21st? And Amazon is predicting that I still won't receive mine until 28th. So how can you have received yours already?

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
What I was saying is that if Mike chooses to just release something that works for the december 2022 firmware, it may only help a few people because people seem to have this crazy ass tendency to just update firmware and THEN check if it was a bad thing to do. But it would at least help a few more ...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
The problem with that theory is that for some stupid reason people seem hellbent on "upgrading to the latest firmware" as soon as they see a new one. And then come on here with "oops, I'm such an idiot. So when's it going to be fixed anyway?" Do you genuinely think that if peopl...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Mike is working on it but there is no eta and pioneer has recently released new fw in September so he has to start over again and he was working on the other fw for 9 months before pioneer released the new one and libredrive v2 for pioneer was not released in that time period so it could be a while...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Probably not anytime soon. Deep Thought paused for a moment's reflection. "Tricky," he said finally. "But can you do it?" Again, a significant pause. "Yes," said Deep Thought, "I can do it." "There is an answer?" said Fook with breathless excitement...

Re: Blu-Ray Disc does not work in Linux MakeMKV but does in Windows version.
FWIW I am successfully using MakeMKV 1.17.5 with VLC on Fedora Linux to play BluRays. Are your Linux and Windows boxes using identical KEYDB.cfg files? Or does your Linux user ID not have the correct permissions to open the BluRay drive's device nodes (e.g. /dev/sg0, /dev/sr0)? E.g. 0 brw-rw----+ 1 ...

Re: some questions on how MakeMKV works
@MrPenguin ... no, haven't tried that yet. Sure, no worries. I have only recently begun experimenting with BluRay on Linux myself, and am finding the "getting it all working on Linux" aspect to be at least as interesting as actually watching the BluRays themselves . You appear also ...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
The XS08U drive is a slot-loader Yes, and I believe the "U" signifies "UHD-capable". My "XD08U" has a "liftable lid", which is presumably what the "D" means too. But "slot-loader vs liftable-ld" is just the drive's "form-factor"....

Re: some questions on how MakeMKV works
Have you tried playing UHD discs on Linux using vlc instead of mpv? AFAIK vlc can use /usr/lib64/libmmbd.so.0 (assuming it's present), which is a "launcher" for the makemvkcon binary, and so should be able to switch your drive into LibreDrive mode for you. Unfortunately I cannot test this ...

Re: Why does MakeMKV create these dump files please?
Sending updates to keydb.cfg would have to be added to the program, so you'll have to make that suggestion... :) To be fair, I was hoping that emailing those dump files to svq@makemkv.com would add those entries to the online database. As a Linux user, I don't have any other practical alternative f...

Re: Why does MakeMKV create these dump files please?
MakeMKV has its own key generation routines, so it doesn't make use of keydb.cfg unless asked to. You can set it up to create AND SAVE the files you're seeing, though. I am using the Linux version of MakeMKV 1.17.5, and cannot find any such options in the "Preferences", even after enablin...
