As it turns out, Apple’s System Report doesn’t see the drive either.
If an Apple program doesn't see the drive, it would indicate to me that the problem isn't the signing of the application that is preventing access.

Re: disc backup error msg - know what it is?

If MakeMKV says the backup completed, it's been checked that the files match the checksums included on the disk. Many (probably most) debug messages are just to let the author know what is happening with the data to be determined, and aren't "errors". I have no idea what standards Mike uses, but mos...

Re: Cannot Rip Mechanic Resurrection Analyzing Seamless segments forever!

Are there any errors being reported in the info window?

If you've clicked on the "Open" icon, backup would be disabled; you have to "close" the disk, then backup should be available again, for a Bluray.

Re: How do I fix a posix error?

Depends on the POSIX error. Turn on Debug logging (link in my signature tells how), and let us see what MakeMKV is reporting.

Also, if you mini is dual-booting, have you tried the Mac version?

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-Ray not copying

Currently, the only way to slow MakeMKV's writing is to use a slow media (like a USB flash drive) as the target. And the flash drive has to be formatted using either ExFAT or NTFS if you're dealing with anything bigger than 4GB in size.

Re: How to get DVD track names visible?

VLC knows about MKV files. A lot of "smart" TVs will not open them... Unless you give them some other extension.

One of my early Samsung "smart" TVs would only play MKV files from a flash drive, and then only if I changed the file extension to "AVI".

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-Ray not copying

Not knowing how you're powering the drive, there are two possibilities. Insufficient 5v power will cause drives like this to go "off-line" when they're spun faster than they have power for. You get a read error, followed by an I/O error, as the operating system tries to deal with the drive as it res...

Re: SATA > USB data cables and external power adapters

Good question - they keep changing the company names on them. For hard drives, I've used 3, 4, and 5 bay internal units from StarTech, and private label versions of them. But, if you look for them on Amazon, the ones I've had excellent luck with get low ratings because of things like "too eas...

Re: Discount Coupons

The payment processor's form allows for a client to add discount codes, but Mike has not done that in the 8 years I've been around this forum.

The presence of the box does not imply the existence of such codes.

Re: Discount Coupons

No problem.

Of course, the "similar job" programs are subscription-based, rather than a lifetime license. And at least one of them ceased doing business after selling a bunch of "lifetime subscriptions" for many times what MakeMKV's license costs.

Re: Discount Coupons

There are no discount codes for MakeMKV.

Mike set the price as US$50. The processor converts that to the local currency and adds in any VAT or similar required by the buyer's country.

Re: Random "No disc inserted" error

Multispeeds haven't been made in a LONG time; it dates back to the dawn of writable DVDs, with USB and Firewire interfaces. Since I've replaced all my internal drives with BD or UHD-BD capable drives, my 10-year-old Sony DRX-S70U has taken the Multispeed's place. The important part is a "red laser" ...

Re: My white whale-descriptive audio

The standard MakeMKV track selection favors multi-channel audio with high specs. Sometimes, the movie audio is not as high spec as "other" audio, like the descriptive track. Because of this, I have MakeMKV rip ALL audio tracks, and chose the ones to keep later. While I use handbrake to remove the un...

Re: Random "No disc inserted" error

Since you said they were DVDs, the most likely "unreadable format" is "dirty or scratched". Especially in cases where the disk is recognized on initial load, but subsequent attempts to read its directory generate "No disk". It's a form of copy protection that has been around for years, and it's very...

Re: Video quality when backing up to blu-ray discs is reduced

A backup is copying the files from the Bluray to your hard drive, optionally removing the encryption. Unless your playback software deliberately reduces its playback quality when playing MKV files (there have been a few), it should be identical, and always has been for me. MakeMKV does no conversion...
