Re: Wont rip new UHD discs

Do you have a UHD-capable drive? If so, the exact nature of WHY the disk failed should tell you how to proceed. If you do NOT have a UHD-capable drive, that's the first problem. Which drive are you trying to use? MakeMKV will report the status of how it worked. If it gives you a file name, like &quo...

Re: Dump Submitted - American Sniper 4K

1. Submit the .TGZ file to svq@makemkv.com to be processed. This is the critical part. 2. Check to see if others have submitted it. If not, post a topic where you give the name of the disk, and include the NAME of the file submitted. The file itself goes via email; this is just to let others know th...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

I cannot say; I'm not one of the professionals that are working on the drive side-grades. At this point, I have not seen anyone openly claim to be able to overwrite Pioneer's firmware. It is possible that someone has, but is being quiet about it. I can say that Pioneer didn't seem to care about the ...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

Firmware date: 2023-08-01
Pretty much "planned by Pioneer to not be supported" unless the firmware can be overwritten. Anything with firmware dates after December 2022 is broken deliberately.

Re: Can MakeMKV retain ALL streams, even those it thinks are "empty"?

Actually, looking at the various editions of Forbidden Planet I can find, it does NOT have Spanish as an AUDIO track, only as a SUBTITLE track. Audio is just English and French. So, it seems normal for MakeMKV to remove a Spanish AUDIO track.

I wonder why it would say there was one?

Re: Dune Part Two 2 - Ultra 4K - Which .mpls title?

Warner Brothers seems to follow the Disney mold and use 0800 as their normal, English playlist. They use 0801 for a different primary language on some titles, or for an "Expanded" playlist, but 0800 is the "as seen in theaters" version. Having recently seen parts of this movie la...

Re: estrarre solo subtitle da dvd protetto su Linux

With the MKV file format, you do not have to put the subtitles into the video, but that may be the simplest for playback. You can also include them as an SRT file, and mark that as the default subtitle to display, using mkvtoolnix. Adding them to the video ("burning them in") is generally ...

Re: Can MakeMKV retain ALL streams, even those it thinks are "empty"?

MakeMKV extracts all streams unless told not to (you can do that in preferences). If MakeMKV thinks a track is "empty", it is because the track had no data. I've only seen that for subtitle tracks, and usually for auto-generated ones (forced-only tracks). If they are NOT empty, the movie w...

Re: Kung Fu Panda 4 4K UHD

Step 1: Submit the .TGZ file to svq@makemkv.com via email. Step 2: Check if there is an existing topic for your disk, and post a reply to it if present, specifying the name of the .TGZ file submitted. If not is found, you can create a new one, and list in it the name of the .TGZ file you submitted, ...

Methinks that Mike missed that with his "same as previous version" update.

Re: Full disc rip successful but playback with error

Which it normally does. A glitch while reading will cause it to retry the read, and abort if it can't read it correctly. It then does a checksum of the contents and compares that with the official (on the disk) checksum for the section being read. No match means it aborts. The usual request is to ig...

Re: Dune 2 4K UHD Errors out During Ripping

Typical issue with reading the disk. The drive spends too much time trying to decode a section, the operating system thinks it's died, and complains about it. If the offset stays the same between runs, it's likely an actual problem with the disk, in which case cleaning may help. If it varies around ...

Re: Full disc rip successful but playback with error

You are actually asking for MakeMKV to do the opposite of what it does... If there was a disk error (read problem), it normally would abort the read. A lot of times, though, playback has a problem with decoding some frames. Does it always glitch at the exact same spot? Does it have the skip in the s...

Re: estrarre solo subtitle da dvd protetto su Linux

MakeMKV itself will not separate out the subtitle track, but there are a number of tools that will. An example would be mkvtoolnix, which can break an MKV file down into individual tracks, as well as reassemble the file with new contents, such as a revised subtitle track. The issue is that a subtitl...

Re: version expires?

Two expiration dates applies to unregistered copies. The "master" is when your key expires, which is (currently) the end of June this year. The second is when Bluray decoding expires, which is 30 days after an unregistered version starts using it. If you first decode a BD today, in 30 days...
