Re: Questions about my Pioneer BDR-211 drive

Even with this new LibreDrive thing that everyone is talking about? That's a bummer. I'm not getting a 4K TV right away so it was more just to have it anyways, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. My understanding is that "... this new LibreDrive thing" is a work in progress. Support for various...

Re: UHD drives

Thank YOU, d00zah! RE: hashed keys...I told you I was confused! 1) I didn't expect a response that quick. 2) I didn't expect it to be THAT easy! I followed the link you gave, followed the instructions, downloaded the files, easily rolled back the FW on my WH16NS40 to v.1.02, then rolled back the FW...

Re: UHD drives

All, Older and very confused as to what I need to do, so please be gentle. I have an LG16NS40 v1.03 and an LG16NS60 v1.01. Can anyone point me to a page with instructions on how to either 1) downgrade the FW for either player or 2) cross-flash either player so that one or both of these drives will ...

Re: NOOB question

Welcome! You're current drive is as good as it's likely to get. That said, recommended drives for UHD compatibility are listed here: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=16832#p58519 'Friendly' drives (with correct FW) are currently supported. Recent reports indicate 'official' drive s...

Re: Help an idiot with a 1st gen WH14NS40

Is there a link to the LG firmware version it tells you is a checksum error? I can use my FirmwareExtractor2 program and extract it and patch it for DE and you can try flashing that with the patched Windows flasher before you go all dosflash on its ass. Dosflash is inherently dangerous and more lik...

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"

Yep, that gives the same "CheckSum is mismatched. Drive will go to BOOT mode. Please retry again." error. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Well, if it were me, I'd fall back to the 'old fashioned' dosflash dump, use datamover to apply cal data to clean image, dosflash... just the thing Billy, Alex & Marty specialize in. ...

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"

Thanks for the suggestion, but it gives the error: "CheckSum is mismatched. Drive will go to BOOT mode. Please retry again." (Retrying gives the same error.) I suspect "Updating Failure #5" == "CheckSum is mismatched". We're reduced to SWAGs now... have you tried Billy's suggestion to use the tool ...

Re: Bluray players that'll play a processed Blu-ray?

Sounds like Cinavia... some players honor it, some don't. Since it's a 'watermark', (most) decryption tools have no affect on it.

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"

Could be an issue with the extracted FW? Seems obvious, but I have to ask... have either of you just tried reapplying the LG FW intended for the drive?

Thanks. Do you have a link to instructions, I can find lots on the Asus but not the LG
1st link in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=18933#p70766

is to an archive containing both the tool & the prepared firmware images.

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"

I am giving up on the 2013 drive Try this image on the old drive. Just downloaded the 'official' flash tool from the LG site (dated 04/10/2014) & ran it thru 'FirmwareExtractor2.exe'. WH14NS40_140326_1.03-A0_NOBJ_DE.zip Try it with the 'ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer_(Modified).exe' tool. If it works, great. ...
