Re: Trying to figure out if my Asus BW-16D1HT is dead or not?

Try this drive on it's own, without the other 2 drives.

See what results you get?

Hi roflmaonowhow,
Did you manage to get a procedure?
I own a LG BH16NS40 svc ns51 rev 1.03 and would be interested as well!
Thanks.
Flash straight with BH16NS40 1.04mk and then WH16NS60 1.02MK

Also look at drive comparison on my seller page.

Hi, recently made the move to 4k with a new TV and have started picking up some UHD discs as well. Wondering if you have any UHD-friendly internal 5.25 drives available at the moment? From all the feedback on this thread it seems like you're the person to talk to :D

May I take this opportunity to thank Robin from ASMCOM for his simply excellent, friendly customer support today. I purchased one of his BW-16D1HT Blu-ray drives last April which has been working perfectly until the last few days.

Thinking the drive was defective I contacted Robin on the off chance that he might be able to suggest something and what he suggested was software-related rather than hardware-related which is not what I had expected. I have only moderate computing skills and was more than happy when Robin suggested linking up via TeamViewer in order to flash the drive and re-install.

Needless to say it worked a treat and he also tweaked my settings in MakeMKV to enable it to run faster. He took a fair amount of time with me, talking me through every process and his whole attitude was that nothing was too much trouble. One can tell from talking with him that he is a true enthusiast for what he does and that reflects in his excellent customer service.

Thank you once again Robin.
You are welcome Ringnut, this has become quite a problem with the ASUS BW-16D1HT to suddenly stop seeing discs. I have had several remote sessions now with different people and all of the problems is software related. I am confident now that I have a fix for this bug. No need to bin your drive. Lol 😂

Re: Rip full 4K disc?

Hi, Could anyone tell me if makemkv can rip the full 4K disc with all the menus etc? Also I'm reading that dolby vision is not very compatible with alot of devices, is there anyway you can disable this whilst using makemkv? Sorry I'm relatively new to all this so any help would be much appreciated....

Re: (Asmcom Seller Page) UK, Europe & International Services, 7% Discount MakeMKV Customers, uhdfriendlydrives@gmail.com

Hello! A few years ago, I bought a Samsung SH-B123 Blu-Ray drive and have been ripping discs using MakeMKV for the last couple of years (lurking in the forums). The drive is coming to the end of its life (and in any case, does not support LibreDrive) so I have been eyeing up the ASUS BW-16D1HT driv...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2021

Hold on there Mr. Orange let's stick to the facts here: 1. When compared to the 5.25" (I call them "full" sized apparently the technical term is "half" sized) drives the slim drive is smaller. 2: When compared to the 5.25" drives the slim drive is slower (8.0X big drive, 6.0X slim drive). 3. When i...

Re: (Asmcom Seller Page) UK, Europe & International Services, 7% Discount MakeMKV Customers, uhdfriendlydrives@gmail.com

I found Asmcom via the MakeMKV forum and I'm so glad I did. I've been interested in buying a drive to rip my 4K discs for a while now but held back as everything seemed more complicated and I was worried I'd waste my money on the wrong drive. Well after browsing the forum I found a UK seller (Asmco...

Re: (Asmcom Seller Page) UK, Europe & International Services, 7% Discount MakeMKV Customers, uhdfriendlydrives@gmail.com

I just purchased an LG-WH16NS60 from Asmcom and the whole process was very straightforward. The device arrived around four days after I placed the order. It was well packaged and all I had to do was plug it in and it worked. Really happy about this, and the communication from Asmcom was very helpfu...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2021

What's with the obsession with slim drives? Aren't they less reliable than a full-sized internal SATA drive? well i have had 50+ desktop drives fail and 1 slim fail so no in my experience the slims are way better. but this is for 1 brand the UHD drives LG/ASUS same drives. other brand desktop drive...

Re: BU40N putting circular scratches on some discs.

Been having an issue recently where my LG BU40N fails to rip 4k discs with hash errors then the disc comes out with circular scratches. These discs are brand new and rendered unusable. I've tried cleaning the drive, which didn't help. The drive is only a few months old. Is this potentially a firmwa...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2021

..... Ok, I've changed my way to rip 4K Blu-ray and bought a drive from ASMCOM. So I can sell my drive without opening the enclosure before. ...... The drive arrived today. It's a BH16NS40 with firmware 1.02mk for WH16NS60. Now, the first two 4K-BDs are ripped without any problems. But in the MK-fi...

Re: Dealing with poor ASUS BW-16D1HT quality control

Amazon does not test the ASUS BW-16D1HT drives before dispatch. If you buy from a reseller the drive will have been tested with at least 4 discs. 1 x BD50 2 x BD66 1 X BD100 In general the ASUS is a very good drive. The problem with Amazon is people send back faulty drives and then Amazon send the d...
