Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support

A little bit of topic. For testing purposes I was asked to create MKV files out of official Dolby test files - profile 5 and 8. Figured should be no harm to share with everyone for testing. Files do not contain audio track, they are video-only.

Re: 1.15.2 Fatal Error Occured

I just wanted to report an issue with the latest version of MakeMKV, version 1.15.2. After updating and attempting to backup a blu ray, I received an error message stating "Fatal error has occurred, the program will no exit" or something to that effect. Please send the debug dump - http://www.makem...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support

So, 1.15.3 will be able to open DV MKV's created with 1.15.1 and save them to a new MKV containing the updated DV approach. That is good news and should save some time for those who already remuxed some titles that way. Will 1.15.3 allow opening and saving of DV MKV's created with 1.15.2 since the ...

Re: Fast bulk audio conversion

makemkv only converts mkv files with less then ~13 audio Tracks, if it contains more the application does nothing and has to be closed with the task manager. (could because the test VM only had 16 logical cores?) This is wrong. There are quite a few few BD discs with over 30 audio tracks and I succ...

Re: Where is the new drive speed option?

I also had one disc where this happened and then the drive spun up REALLY fast where I had to power the drive off manually... Fastest I've ever heard the drive! There are some circular scratches on the edge of the disc now What media was that? BD/DVD/UHD and how many layers? Also, note to everyone ...

Re: To LiberDrive or not to LibreDrive

Is the LibreDrive firmware exactly like the stock As said above, yes. The difference between stock and MK is really about 100 bytes - only to re-enable ability to upload custom code to the drive. When you turn your drive on, until you run MakeMKV on this drive, the MK firmware is identical to the s...

Re: command line utils for flashing my new Archgon UHD?

Just version. Yours is 1.04, latest from 2020. The "DE" is 1.00 from 2017, . There are some (other) programs that work with 1.00 but can't with 1.04 - this is about the only reason to flash 1.00 . If you are loyal to MakeMKV, stay on 1.04 :)

Re: Where is the new drive speed option?

My Asus BW-16D1HT on 3.10 MK firmware is currently flying through the UHD of Spiderman Homecoming with “0=99” set for drive speed. Does this mean that 3.10 MK does not have the sleep bug? Maybe. It is highly drive and media dependent. Some have observed issues on friendly drives only with triple-la...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support

So if i saved a backup using the feature in MakeMKV, I should be able to rip from that as well too right? Yes, backups are always like a source disc, everything is preserved, even if a backup was made by a two year old MakeMKV. Do you recommend holding off for 1.15.3 before I start pulling discs ou...

Re: Where is the new drive speed option?

Would have been rather helpful if this was made clear on the main-page release notes, as the obvious first thing for a user to do is go looking for it in the GUI. It was a hard choice, not pulling it to GUI. I nearly killed on of my drives experimenting with different settings... Let's see it will ...

This means that you are using libmakemkv from 1.15.1 and makemkvcon from 1.15.2 . Somehow, the library was not updated.

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support

Stupid question, but if I want Dolby Vision support, do i need to re-rip all my UHD's? Unfortunately, yes. In theory 1.15.1 did preserve DV data, but was putting DV metadata in an intermediate format. And what's worse, 1.15.2 can't open its own generated MKV files (with respect to dolby vision). In...

Changing the speed setting

To change the speed string for a particular drive one has to edit MakeMKV preferences by hand. Despite not having a full GUI editor, MakeMKV still makes editing this setting somewhat easy. First, you need to "activate" the drive. Launch MakeMKV so it sees the drive, open preferences, do not change a...
