So if VLC also has this wrong format can I instruct makeMKV to process the DVD differently?

Re: Black frames on top and sides of 16:9 video
I think the main issue here is that the player is misinterpreting the video. It usually comes down to how the disk was authored, and where the aspect ratio information is stored. MakeMKV only saves one copy of that information, but there are two places it can be specified. They're SUPPOSED to match...

Black frames on top and sides of 16:9 video
I used makeMKV to save my DVDs of the old series "Westwing". Seasons 1 and 2 with several DVDs are ripped perfectly. But season 3 is ripped in 16:9 with black frames all around the image (top, bottom and sides). --- Weirdly, one short scene at the beginning is displayed in 4:3 with black j...

Re: Broken after upgrade to 18.10
Thanks, but that's weird. I never had to do this. I just upgraded every time it said so.

Broken after upgrade to 18.10
I upraded my Lubuntu from 18.04 to 18.10.
When trying to start MakeMKV it gave an error "failed to initialise". So I downloaded the two files and went through the installation. Now it starts up but says I have to download a newer version.
Any hints?

Re: One Title missing but log shows all titles have been added
I was now able to extract the missing title by using the right keyword for opening up the title manually: 15:1 I am still curious why both titles of that kind had been skipped. Using direct disc access mode Open DVD manually : "15:1 15:2 16:1 16:2 8:1 8:2" Title #15 was added (1 cell(s), 0...

One Title missing but log shows all titles have been added
Hi, my DVD has 16 titles. MakeMKV does just show 15 Titles after opening the disk. As you can see the log shows that 33 titels are checke, number 33 is dismissed (too short), which leaves 32 titels and then each title is double so every second title of one VTS is skipped (16 titels are skipped). Thi...

Problems with Sound (AC3) since libmakemkv v1.10.2
Since the update to v1.10.2 in end of 2016 I experience problems with my 5.1 sound. Background noises are too loud and blending into the dialogues. I have seasons of the same series that sound differently, e.g. the first season of Story of Film is okay, the second one is not okay. The first season o...

Re: Automatically Name Forced Sub Tracks to Forced?
Hi, can I join the conversation? For the first time now I try to add forced subtitels (Narcos, they are speaking Spanish often, I want English forced subtitles). But MakeMKV shows me in the German version of the DVD just three subtitles: two German and one English. So how can I find forced subtitles...

Re: Volume of Sound fluctuating after upgrade to v1.10.1
I am comming back to this topic because I encountered problems again. I am watching the series NYPD blue. The first series I ripped February 2016 with libmakemkv v1.9.9 (1.3.3/1.4.4) x86_64-linux-gnu The second series I ripped November 2016 with libmakemkv v1.10.2 (1.3.3/1.4.4) x86_64-linux-gnu I ch...

Awesome! I can check the mkv for the audio and other properties. I did it once but can't remember the way. I also can check the TV model tomorrow.

Re: Story Of Film
Thanks! I do indeed use the advanced mode, but just for the selection rule ("-sel:all,+sel:(favlang|nolang|single),-sel:(havemulti|havecore),-sel:mvcvideo,=100:all,-10:favlang,-sel:subtitle") and the profile above it is set to "default". So, what you are saying is that this one d...

Re: Story Of Film
Hey Woodstock, I saw you answering my other posting regarding the same issue (after ripping a second DVD from that box). I am not doing something with FLAC, i guess. But I would be curious to where this would be chosen in the settings. So I can make sure it is not the problem. So, to what section of...
