Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs
Going with selection masks can work a lot of the time, but... what do you do when the movie audio is 2.0 stereo, and the descriptive or commentary audio is a 5.1 surround sound? It DOES happen. If the as-extracted MKV file is your ultimate goal, adjusting the selection rules makes sense, but you ha...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs
The object of my methodology is that the disk is in the drive for the minimum amount of time. Optical media is really too fragile, despite what they claim. I definitely agree! With what I am doing now I don't think it is required for me to go into VLC at all. I have just been ripping all English su...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs
Try -sel:all,+sel:(eng),-sel:(core),-10:(forced*(eng)),-15:(eng) Hey it looks like this is the same outcome as the other one that the other guy had listed. Is the first thing where it says "-set:all" mean that it checks everything? I am looking to make it so that it unselects everything e...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs
I use VLC to figure out the arrangement of which subtitle tracks are which (Funimation likes to put the "forced" track as the second track, while Sentai puts it first, but both will swap things around for certain series) Hey Woodstock - How do you get VLC to play your Bluray discs and DVD...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs
You can also set up rules to handle your selections automatically so you don't have to do it everytime. You'll find it under Preferences / Advanced and Default selection rule, this is the rule I use: -sel:all,+sel:(favlang|mvcvideo),-sel:(core) This rule unselects everything first for a clean start...

Re: "Fake playlist" protection - help needed
^^^ I will definitely try doing the PowerDVD after I run Procmon . Is this the best manual way (Power DVD + ProcMon) to figure this out? Can you use something like DVDFab or if I used AnyDVD to fully rip the folders, would MakeMKV read it correctly? It is just a frustrating place to be in. VLC won't...

Re: "Fake playlist" protection - help needed
I am really trying to understand how to get this fake playlist protection off of Lionsgate movies. I have tried a variety of ways as listed on this forum and others and cannot figure it out. First I have tried to install Java on my Windows 10 x64 PC (I downloaded the Java x64 version). I do not see ...

Re: Is It Possible to Add Information in the Blu-ray Before the Movies "Starts?"
Thanks so much for all of the awesome information! That's hilarious about that Terminator 3D beginning credit, lol! I am going to fiddle with MakeMKV some more and use the rules you have given me. I'll post back if there is anything weird. thanks again!

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs
So you have a ton of blurays/4Ks too and always just save the regular subtitles and forced ones and never have any issue with subs in movies? Correct. Oh ok. So I need to save all audio tracks for each file, not just the DTS MA I'm looking for? The forced subtitles will sometimes be in the actual a...

Thanks so much, I ordered the Asus so I'll have another drive to alternate between and hopefully play stubborn discs if I need it.

Re: Saving MakeMKV Files to NAS
I think the best would be if you have a network drive mapped to your NAS. Then it shouldn't be a problem at all to just write to it. You only need to make sure, that the network connection is stable and has a reasonable speed. I'm not sure how MakeMKV behaves, when the disc could be read with 30mb/...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs
So you save absolutely everything in every blu-ray disc, even the files that are like 2mb? No, only all tracks of the wanted title. Oh ok. So I need to save all audio tracks for each file, not just the DTS MA I'm looking for? The forced subtitles will sometimes be in the actual audio tracks but may...

Re: Manual Mode Tutorial
Not that I'm aware of, but you CAN back up the entire blu-ray/4k UHD. What are you shooting for? Someone had mentioned in another thread that there are some problematic Blurays where you have to look at the "segment" to find the correct files to rip. I haven't ran to an issue yet but I'm ...
