Re: Drive making funny noises

I want to fix it but you're not answering my questions mate... I've no idea which firmware to flash the drive and if I should use the MK firmware or not? Also the firmware in the video link to download will not download. There's a network error each time I try. I've tried 20x times so I cannot get a...

Thanks for that, all 3 check out fine.

So can you confirm I flash it with the LG WH16NS60, UHD Official Internal 5.25 firmware please?

Re: Drive making funny noises

Sleepbug fix? There's a fix for it? Yeah  buy a drive from me lol to get it. But jk I posted how to do it here: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19634 Okay this is where I went massively wrong in my other topic and needed your help to recover the drive so I'd like to che...

Re: Drive making funny noises

Dunno. Haven't read any 'horror stories' attributable (YMMV) to it. @jonghotti , @MartyMcNuts , @Billycar11 traffic in volumes of these affected drives. Gentlemen? Almost all drives I sell now have the sleepbug fix. I haven't seen any harm from it but it does not sound good and it is annoying to ha...

Re: HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision & Audio Formats

Okay thanks.

I've already been looking and I think the DVDFab UHD Ripper supports it.

Re: HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision & Audio Formats

Ahh sorry it was my understanding UHD disks are just multi-layered Blu-Rays from a video I saw on Youtube showing us how to use MakeMKV by a guy sponsored by Plex. Regardless... can you just give me a little more information before I go off researching? I want to backup my Blu-Rays with as much of t...

Drive making funny noises

Hi, I've got the WH14NS40 in an external Icy Boy enclosure. When it's ripping everything is fine. But if the drive has a disk in it and i'm not doing anything with it, it makes like a grinding noise trying to read the disk. The only way to stop it is to eject the disk and close it again. Windows rea...

HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision & Audio Formats

Hi,

When ripping a Blu-Ray with MakeMKV will it also rip HDR, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and another audio formats?

Basically, is there anything it doesn't support? I just want to be sure I am getting the best copy possible.

Thanks.

Re: Using Handbrake to compress 4K

I thought selecting 10bit was ensuring that the file was encoded with HDR?

Re: Flashed wrong firmware and killed drive

In the future I would be happy to host as I have a server. It’s currently only on an ADSL line but The line is being upgraded to a 1:1 contention 100mbit up/down. Once that’s done I would be happy to host some stuff as a thank you. It’s a full featured and protected web/email/dns/ftp etc... server.

Using Handbrake to compress 4K

I'm currently in the process of using MakeMKV to rip all my 4K Blu-Rays but I'm unsure what settings to use with Handbrake to compress them. I want to keep them in 4K with still VERY good audio and video but I am unsure what settings to use. I've tried playing and end up with files larger than the o...

Re: Flashed wrong firmware and killed drive

Well it’s been a big steep learning curve and i’m very grateful.

I’ll leave it alone and i’m more than happy with it :) My laptop rips 4K’s anyway so i don’t need the desktop to do it.
