Re: Main Feature identification failing more often?

Can’t say I’ve had that issue with discs but I’m sure I buy less than some and it would come down to which discs one purchases, whether you run into any issues. I’m not clear on the status of this feature - I sent in a disc semi-recently (as per https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=...

Re: Final Fantasy VII Advent Children

The difference is the end credits for listing the voice actors of the different language tracks. Segment 217 is the movie except for the end credits, and then the three additional segments for each of the 3 playlist versions are the end credits: Angle 1 is 217,218 - Japanese Angle 2 is 217,219 - Eng...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs

a lot of times it will select another english audio track as well Ah right yeah, got to unselect those. Never bothered to investigate the rules more to avoid that. Lots of movies and TV shows have commentary tracks and I rip those, as well as sometimes score-only tracks or alternate original mixes,...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs

Yeah, Woodstock’s way makes the most sense, I just prefer to know what I’m ripping ahead of time (and I usually do or it’s not too tricky) rather than messing around with sometimes a lot of extra tracks afterward. I always review the automatic selection before I start ripping, it’s just to get me 90...

Re: Starting point

1) Download MakeMKV 2) Rip 3) Buy more HDs Unless you don’t care about keeping the original quality and are planning to re-encode the rips, but I don’t imagine that’s the case since you bought Blu-ray in the first place and are going to get rid of the discs, so you won’t have the originals... hard d...

Re: Is It Possible to Add Information in the Blu-ray Before the Movies "Starts?"

I do consider it an interesting subject though, here's an infamous example of information before the movie starts, and why these things should not be included in the movie itself... in the latest (awful) T2 release, the studio put an (unnecessary credits) notice for the 3D version at the start... an...

Also just a tip, please read this thread as well, you don't need to quote the entire reply each time, since the reply is just above, you can quote only if you need to make it clear a specific part you are responding to :D

I'm not sure how MakeMKV behaves, when the disc could be read with 30mb/s but the network would allow only 10mb/s (as example).
The same way as a too-slow hard drive would be my guess, you will see error messages that say that MakeMKV is reading data faster than the data can be written.

Re: Is It Possible to Add Information in the Blu-ray Before the Movies "Starts?"

No. There are a few diferent reasons for multiple playlists for the main movie, although I don't remember Terminator having a ton of different playlists for the main movie... Read this thread about Fake Playlist Protection: https://makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16791 Two other common cas...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs

So you have a ton of blurays/4Ks too and always just save the regular subtitles and forced ones and never have any issue with subs in movies? Correct. Oh ok. So I need to save all audio tracks for each file, not just the DTS MA I'm looking for? The forced subtitles will sometimes be in the actual a...

Re: Is It Possible to Add Information in the Blu-ray Before the Movies "Starts?"

Anything you saw in the movie theatre (such as opening credits / title sequences) will be part of the movie itself. I might have a movie or two where there is some kind of title card with some information about the Blu-ray presentation of the movie, such as the example you gave about the notice re: ...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs

I was just reading about there being issues with some forced title movies like Avatar.. can you expand on how to handle movies like that? I am assuming I just need to select and save english sub BOTH forced AND regular subs for every movie I do? This way I will have the subtitles with the file if I...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs

On a related note, with audio such as DTS-HD MA where there is a lossless master track, you don't need to also select the lossy sub-track core, unless you want it as a separate audio track in the file for some reason.

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs

Subtitles are ripped as subtitle tracks, they are not burned in. If you want to burn them in, you can re-encode (and this will re-compress the video) with a program such as Handbrake. But there's not much reason to burn them in. I always have both the subtitle track and the forced sub-track select b...
