Re: can't delete files

MakeMKV almost certainly didn't save anything in divx format. I suspect you have .mkv file extension associated with the divx player, try viewing the files in VLC or MPC-HC instead. (I also have my suspicions that this is somehow related to explorer crashing. I can't be much more help, VLC and WinXP...

Re: Writing Chapter Markers

I'm having trouble getting the chapter markers actually written into the video file so that I can navigate through them on a MKV-compatible player. What player? If its a software player, try another VLC and MPC-HC are good options. If it is a hardware device, many manufacturers like to state MKV su...

Re: is mkv a good format for SD DVD or only Blu-ray

For SD DVD if you want a single file ISO is the way to go or they can be left in the VideoTs format. Aside from the fact that there is many times more software for manipulating the standard DVD formats than there are for MKV a post further up the forum page explains the biggest disadvantage of MKV ...

Re: Rip speed capped?

You should have a look at your drive's firmware with mediacodespeededit.

I do not believe MakeMKV is the limiting factor here, between two mechanical harddrives it averages 80MB/s here.

Re: When will the beta end?

I still get certain DVDs (eg Fullmetal Alchemist Season 2) where each disc appears to have just 1 episode, but many chapters. I had to use DVD decrypter to hand strip out the actual episodes from those. I've seen this before (on some Babylon5 DVDs) and I nearly reported it as a bug then, but lookin...

Re: MakeMKV 1.6.8 not accepting key

Navvie - asking a question and getting flamed and called ungrateful is awfully rude don't ya think? Crowfax's original reply to casey737 of "mike will release a new key in a few days" seemed to be all that was required, we know from experience that a new key is released once a month. rajb...

Re: General problem - many blu-rays skippy/jumpy - frame los

Currently ripped approx 12 blu-rays and they al play fine on my Q9650 (3.8GHz) with 8800GT.

They struggle to play properly on my Athlon II X2 240e machine, but I put that down to having no gfx card hardware assist at present.

Re: MakeMKV 1.6.8 not accepting key

But "MakeMKV is free while in beta" is not strictly true for a few days each month, and during this time there is a profit incentive for him to delay in releasing the beta key (impatient people fork over $50), so it makes you wonder if the delay is really from being busy with other things...

Re: can't get disc to rip properly

My question number 4 is a fairly typical rebuke to someone with a "potty mouth".

I apologise for any offence I caused.

FWIW, I do agree with you. As a paid user of MakeMKV there should be some sort of direct tech support available.

eg. don't mount it.

Re: 480i DVDs flagged as 480P

I have ripped around 200 DVDs and ~10 blu-rays so far with MakeMKV. The majority have been TV series where I expect to get a lot of interlaced material. So far all interlaced or progressive input has resulted in interlaced or progressive output. My sources are mostly PAL, 576i/p. Can you try MediaIn...

Re: can't get disc to rip properly

Ok, just solved all of my problems... no thanks to the fucking developers. Software is great... customer support sucks. 1. It was suggested you try VLC, you didn't. Why would anyone else make a suggestion when you ignore the one that you got "I can play anything". Clearly you couldn't. 2....
