Re: Blu-Ray rips causing MakeMKV to hang, repeatedly (on Mac

What you describe seems like an AACS lock-out, but that should return an error message saying that. If you insert a disk with a version of AACS newer than the drive has seen before, it loads the revocation table from that disk into the drive's firmware, without any warnings or needing any software t...

Re: Determining correct title on BD with MULTIPLE titles

What do you get when you try to open the disk in the graphic user interface? It is possible that there IS an error in reading the disk.

Re: MKV to de-interlaced m4v

I've been using handbrake's Decomb filter (rather than the Deinterlace filter) set to "default". I haven't noticed any appreciable "muddiness" added. But one of the problems with this whole process is how things look to the person doing the processing - all of us perceive "g...

Re: Another newbie Q: region code applicable for MakeMKV / M

MakeMKV tries to work around region coding, and is successful most of the time (I have not had it fail yet). Some DVD drives will not allow you to work around it, but they are rare. And I think BD drives do not enforce regions. I buy both European and Asian disks and rip them with my US/North Americ...

Re: Newbie: preview titles somehow possible?

The "solution" I use is to set the threshold low (30 seconds) and rip everything. Then I can view what is saved using VLC, and decide what requires further processing (I use handbrake to shrink the files) and what can be disposed of immediately (really, most "extras" are "vi...

Re: newby how do i run the file

The fact that you said "backup" means you probably used the "backup" function, which creates an image (optionally decrypted) of the Bluray data on the disk. The next question is, what operating system, and what software do you have installed? Windows prior to 10 has no support bu...

Re: Star Wars Complete Saga Blu-ray crashing MakeMKV

That collection of errors suggests a dirty or scratched disk. The drive can't read parts of it, and is sending MakeMKV a best-guess at the contents of the sectors. They aren't particularly GOOD guesses, which is why MakeMKV says they're corrupt.

Just because disks are new doesn't mean they're clean.

Re: Compression

If the file is already off the optical disk, then MakeMKV is at the mercy of whatever you used to extract the files. If there were errors, MakeMKV will stop processing when it hits them.

Re: newby how do i run the file

What do you mean, "run the file"? Are you referring to playing an MKV file, or starting MakeMKV?

Re: Star Wars Complete Saga Blu-ray crashing MakeMKV

At the very least, the parts of the log that show error would be necessary. But, I'd go with sending the log and other requested files listed in the FAQ link in my signature to support@makemkv.com, so that Mike can have a look at them. You should be able to zip them up small enough for most mail sys...

Re: Joy

It is rare that Mike announces that he's created an SVQ file. When I have had the issue, I just tried the rip about once per week.

Mike's schedule seems to be rather erratic, so sometimes it is just a day, other times it's been a couple of weeks.

Saved BD+ dump file as C:\Users\Sebastian\.MakeMKV/dump_Joy_Alles_au_er_gew_hnlich_E2DC86E7070B8A1B_D3.tgz
Send that file to svq@makemkv.com, so that Mike can process it. You can find more information here: /svq/ .

I can make no statements for Mike - he controls how he gets payments. But PayPal USED to work, 'cuz that's how I paid for mine.

If there is a reason it isn't being accepted now, he hasn't said anything here.

Re: BlueRay more than one big video file

Bluray can have HUNDREDS of titles. Which one is "the main movie", it varies with the disk. Some publishers always use the same play list number, others scramble them up with each release. Best bet is to look for files that have the same length as shown on the cover sheet for the version y...

Re: Site that lists subtitles?

There may be, but... If you don't want subtitles, you can set up a default selection rule that won't pick them up. You might also check your player software. Hardware players tend to play whatever subtitle track is first, whether it is flagged as default, forced, or not flagged at all. Most software...
