Re: Basic Questions
Hi I finally have an update to this. So I re-ripped a movie as the first version had glitches in it, I saved the log this time. Just watched it and it glitched again, different place this time, but still a glitch; pixilation for a second. Here is the log: Debug log started at Sun Sep 30 16:04:52 201...

Re: Basic Questions
Sorry about that. Watched a 1.12.0 rip last night and it had dropped frames. Woodstock - what could this be? Now, I can only think it’s either the drive or the fact that I’m writing to an external hard drive. Although, the latter didn’t cause problems before. Is your source DVD or blu-ray? If blu-r...

Re: Basic Questions
I think I’ve found a new problem then!
Unless it’s a coincidence that all the four rips I tried with 1.12.3 all had problems with them and the two I’ve tried with 1.12.0 have been fine?

Re: Avoid v1.12.3 (opinion)
As mentioned in my other thread: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17928, 1.12.3 is ripping fine for me but all my movies have dropped frames (and in some cases glitches) in them. This has taken some time to diagnose and can be reproduced. Unfortunately, I don't have the logs any...

Re: Basic Questions
I saw that but am not experiencing those problems. I don’t get errors, the file saves fine, it just has dropped frames in it.
It’s a damn shame too because I ripped my entire collection with it!

Re: Basic Questions
I’m starting to think that 1.12.3 is the problem.
All my rips with this version so far have had dropped frames in them.
I’ve just ripped two movies with 1.12.0, watched them and they’ve been perfect.
Could 1.12.3 have issues with ripping?

Re: Basic Questions
Thanks for the reply. I’ve ripped about 200 titles, three of them that I’ve checked so far have had glitches in them. By glitch, I mean dropped frames mainly. In one instance there were visual artefacts too. I have tired playing them locally too, glitches in the same places. It’s weird because, I’ve...

Re: Basic Questions
Cheers for that, Woodstock.
It appears to be a lot of my rips have glitches, missing frames, AV sync errors in them. This has been confirmed by trying the files in multiple apps (Plex, VLC and a Blu Ray app on the Mac, name escapes me).
If MakeMKV is not the cause, what else could be?

Basic Questions
Hi all
I’m having trouble with my rips. I just want to know;
Is it possible for MakeMKV to complete, not display any errors, yet still have corruption in the file?
Finally, if so, how do I ensure a perfect rip?
Thanks

Re: Missing Frames/Jerky Playback
Still having this issue. Confirmed a few more rips now, all have glitches, some have artifacts with the glitches too. Tried playing the files with 3 apps, all glitch in the same place. I just re-ripped my entire collection so could it be the current version of MakeMkV? I could try an old version but...

Re: Pause / Glitch in some rips
I've recently had this issue too, to the extent that when played on Plex on the Apple TV, the app pinwheeled, over and over. When I tried the same file on VLC, it crashed! I'd love to know what the problem is. In order to diagnose the problem, I've tried: moving the file to a local drive as opposed ...

Re: Missing Frames/Jerky Playback
So I tried to watch a new rip last night, consistently crashed Plex, VLC, and Blu-Ray Player in the same place every time. I've done a full back up then ripped the titles I want. The file no longer crashes in the same place - but I'll need to watch the movie start to finish. When I first ripped it, ...

Re: Missing Frames/Jerky Playback
Would MakeMKV report that it was successful if it had 'schmutz' on the disc?

Re: Missing Frames/Jerky Playback
I just did that! The file seems fine, it doesn't stutter in the same places but I haven't watched it from start to finish.
