Re: MakeMKV v1.10.0 generating Java command-line-tool error
I installed 1.10.0 when it came out, and I get no complaints about the JRE being missing... it's not on my machine, and won't be (security is too important to me). Did you have parts of the JRE installed? If the JRE is required to guess at Lionsgate disks, I guess that feature isn't ever going to wo...

Re: where does makeMKV save its prefs?
But user-modified profile XML files should be stored in the MakeMKV data directory, which is set in Preferences->General. During the install, nothing is touched in the MakeMKV data directory. Anything in the program directory... Well, that's considered fair game. Once I learned this, I stopped havi...

Re: HEVC Support
Several encoders out there (including handbrake) will read whatever video you want, and output h.265/HEVC encoded video. A lot of pirate stuff on the net is also being distributed pre-encoded as HEVC, because the files are smaller than h.264 video. I don't bother with it because it limits what you c...

Re: HEVC Support
Ah, you're talking about using MakeMKV stream files already on your system, as opposed streaming them off a DVD or BD. Frankly, I didn't know it could do that. I only use MakeMKV with BD and DVD, because I have other tools to deal with the files once they're on the media server. Sorry. My media serv...

Re: HEVC Support
MakeMKV streams whatever the codec is on the BD or DVD. If you get a BD that uses h.265, that is what will be streamed.

Re: Additional hard drive space being used during conversion
Generally speaking, MakeMKV won't use a lot of "temporary file space", because it doesn't need it for general ripping. However, some disks will produce more output than you expect - while a disk may have 8GB of actual data, ripping the TITLES on it can take more. A title can be constructed...

Re: batman under the red hood only ripping at 480 not 1080 h
Watched the BD or watched the MKV file? The MKV should be a copy of the video, unmodified. Watching it with something like VLC, which understands (almost) all video codecs used on BD, should show it to be 1080p. If it doesn't, that puts the onus on MakeMKV or the disk; if it does, it is more likely ...

Try a different player - Some playback software does not support LPCM completely.

Re: batman under the red hood only ripping at 480 not 1080 h
Are you sure you're looking at the right title? MakeMKV does NOT have a video encoder built into it, so it cannot convert video from one resolution to another. Not all titles on a Bluray are guaranteed to be 1080p; a lot of BDs have extras and such are only DVD quality. Funimation and Sentai Filmwor...

Send the information asked for in the link in my signature to support@makemkv.com for review. Mike will probably ask for more information, but that will get things started.

Re: The other side of the door error code
The log should contain a link to a TGZ file on your system to submit to svq@makemkv.com for review. It will usually be in your MakeMKV data directory, which can be found by looking at Preferences->General

Re: Unable to Specify MKV Filename
Make sure your settings have not changed - that pull-down is controlled by Preferences->Expert mode, which controls ALL advanced menus. If you open Preferences, and do not see the Advanced tab, Expert mode has been turned off.

Re: HEVC Support
Audio is one thing - it is relatively simple. Spend some time over on the handbrake forum (forum.handbrake.fr) and read how complex the OPTIONS for various video encodings are to make them work on different devices. Quite often, the settings you use for one device make the video incompatible with an...

Re: Fabulous Audio Blu Ray
Bluray audio is a mixed affair. You can have 1 channel through the latest Dolby "ten billion channel" (an exaggeration) tracks. Which ones you want depend upon your equipment. Can it handle AAC audio, or is it limited to AC3? DTS/DTS-HD? TrueHD? 7.1 channel?
