Package Managers Officially Supported? (Ubuntu Snap, Flathub, etc.)
As the topic reads, I am curious to know there is "official" support for a package manager method to install MakeMKV on Ubuntu. The Snap package manager would appear to be the Ubuntu version of an "app store." However, I've noticed that just about anyone can submit a build (offic...

Re: Great addition (KEYDB_HD.cfg) for HD DVD decryption
@Mikeadmin, is there any chance libMMBD could be persuaded to also use a "KEYDB_HD.cfg" an thus enable playback for HD DVDs? That might be a worthwhile feature request. Perhaps start a thread in the "General MakeMKV discussion" forum? As a follow-up to my own HD-DVD ripping ende...

Re: A Better Way To Find The Correct Playlist/Segment Map
Hey, friends. I just caught up with this thread this evening. Interesting information. I'm wondering if this method could be transposed to use VLC as the Blu-ray player instead of those mentioned in the thread. To take it a step further, I also wonder if we can do something similar using macOS utili...

The New Dylib Files and Automated Symbolic Link Process
I don't know if this has been covered in any of the release documentation for v1.15.x, but what is the difference between the libmmbd_new.dylib and libmmbd_old.dylib files? It's also great that MakeMKV now takes care of the integration with the video players (e.g. VLC). Now, we don't have to create ...

Re: Code for interface with other encoders (e.g. Handbrake)
We documented a procedure for Windows in another thread which might help.
Important Note: You need to copy the 64-bit version of the dll file if you're running a 64-bit OS.

Re: HD-DVD Help
I am down to one working HD-DVD player, so it is high time I got around to preserving content from my original HD-DVDs. Is it still possible to obtain V1.9.9 for Windows or Mac OSx? Will it work as Beta or do I need to buy a license for this activity? Speaking from recent experience, the latest ver...

Re: HD DVD player and DASPI (macOS Catalina)
By the way, MetalDave, I am also burning Blu-Ray backs of most of the titles I've been able to rip. That's interesting; I've never tried creating a Blu-ray disc from an MKV file. I wouldn't really know where to start with that process, so you're ahead of me there. I've found there are pro's and con...

Re: More on Blu-Ray playback with VLC Player
Just checking in on one of my favorite threads. Starting with MakeMKV v.1.15.0, the application will auto-install the appropriate back-end configuration with VLC to enable decryption. Just look under MakeMKV Preferences, and you'll find an option in the last tab to enable VLC. http://www.makemkv.com...

HD DVD player and DASPI (macOS Catalina)
Hi, friends. I'm in the middle of my HD DVD renaissance. In other words, I'm going through the box of HD DVD movies and ripping them to my NAS. Seems like a good use of the time. I have a Mac with a fresh install of Catalina. The updated structure of macOS presents its share of challenges, but the b...

Re: HD DVD with AACS v4
Seems like a good time to pick up a project like that. I'm going through my box of HD DVD discs as well. You're not decrypting the films appropriately. You can manually add keys to MakeMKV to get these things to work. You can, probably, figure out things from the following posts: http://makemkv.com/...

Process for Installing VLC v3.0.6 (Windows)
After reading my previous post, it seems clear that I was half-asleep when I wrote it. :D I figured it out, so please allow me to share my procedure. I attempted to use the method written by @Billycar11 earlier in this thread to get VLC to play a Blu-ray disc. Unfortunately, this wasn't an automatic...

OS-specific Forum for Windows?
Greetings! I was curious why there isn't an OS-specific Forum for Windows. More specifically, I was looking for a corresponding sticky thread for "Direct Blu-ray playback with VLC player" for Windows (just as you can find in the MacOS and Linux forums). If I'm missing something obvious, pl...

Re: More on Blu-Ray playback with VLC Player
Incidentally, I (kind-of) gave up maintaining the symbolic link in the /Applications directory to the executable in the MakeMKV sub-directory. I still copy the entire contents of the DMG file to my /Applications directory as a subdirectory (e.g. /Applications/makemkv_v1.14.3), but I just make a dupl...

Re: Direct Blu-ray playback with VLC stopped working after upgrading VLC to 3.0.5
1. Install VLC and MakeMKV 2. Go to the MakeMKV installation directory (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV) and copy libmmbd.dll to the VLC installation directory (usually C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC) twice 3. Rename one of these copies to libaacs.dll and the other to libbdplus.dll 4. Open Ma...
