Re: DVD problem with subtitle with new make mkv version

Assuming you're using windows: MKVToolNix Pre: 64 bit: https://mkvtoolnix.download/windows/pre/64bit/ 32 bit: https://mkvtoolnix.download/windows/pre/32bit/ Install whichever one of those fits your system. (the lastest MKVPropEdit pre has a special command to remove track statistics tags.) Open a co...

Re: Ripping DVD to be same as the original file

All DVDs use MPEG2 for video. Audio can be AC-3, PCM, DTS or MP2. What MakeMKV puts into the MKV files is the original streams, unaltered. You can happily put them back onto a DVD, also unaltered, and they'll play fine. Normally I prefer to keep Blu Rays as they come directly from the disc, but I te...

Re: DVD problem with subtitle with new make mkv version

MKVMerge -I file.mkv For a start. make sure it's a capital 'I', lowercase give less information. We need it for an old file and a new one. The we need the same from MediaInfo in text mode. Like I said, there's not much variation inside a Matroska file and I don't see how anything could be causing wh...

Re: DVD problem with subtitle with new make mkv version

I just ripped Superman Doomsday from DVD with all the subtitles languages on the disc and played it in MPC-HC. All the subtitles were there and I could switch between them at will. So obviously whatever is happening to you is not MakeMKVs doing, which means it's a problem with either your player or ...

Re: DVD problem with subtitle with new make mkv version

These are the laws of physics: http://www.matroska.org/technical/specs/index.html There is nothing IN the laws of physics that allows for the phenomenon you're describing. If you're claiming that somehow something is happening that defies the laws of physics then you're a crackpot. The last time som...

Re: Weeds - Complete Collection - Season 3 Disc 2

If you've done a full backup, use EAC3To on it.

How are the chapters done? Are they duplicated too?

It doesn't matter, use EAC3To on the mpls files to extract the chapters, delete the extra chapters if they're there, then add them to the file using MKVToolNix.

Re: DVD problem with subtitle with new make mkv version

The Matroska specs aren't all that complicated. There's nothing MakeMKV CAN do to cause the issue you're describing.

Re: Multiple tracks

I'd say rip them, then append them with MKVMerge but there's more to it than that. MKVMerge doesn't sync audio properly. The best solution would be to do a complete backup, then use EAC3To to combine the mpls files containing the songs you want. But then you'd have to figure out the chapters somehow...

Re: Default to HD master?

I assumed you meant the reimagined series at first, then you mentioned "the 4 or 5 DVD's that comes with the set". Anyway, the complete series set I bought came with everything, including the old series, the new and all the movies. When I ripped mine I discovered two of the discs were dama...

Re: Anamorphic DVD Is Forced to 4:3 Ratio

The stupid answer would be that MakeMKV doesn't alter the streams, it just copies them as they are on the disc. Really, we all know it probably should but someone would have to code it in... (It's also been known to include a bunch of non-forced subtitles in a forced subtitle stream if there's no cl...

Re: **BUG** MakeMKVs FLAC BPS tag is WRONG

Yeah, I've already had stream size before compression written into the next version of MediaInfo, but Jerome has hidden it by default (apparently he didn't think it was worth displaying.) Source ID was a bit confusing, it took me a while to figure out 0x00 was BD and 0x01 was DVD. Are there any othe...

Re: How foolproof would this be for forced subs?

Since the latest version MakeMKV has begun adding Track Statistics Tags to every file it produces. If you look at the files with MediaInfo you'll see a field in the subtitle info called "Count of elements". That would be the enumeration of the number of times the subtitle display changes (...

Re: Toy Story 3 Blu Ray

Assuming you want English credits it's always 0800.mpls for Disney releases. When there are several versions of a playlist, with only a few substituted segments it's generally the first one (or the one on the hundred) that's English. If there are too many, that generally means there are fake playlis...
