Re: Can we get the option to disable a video track extraction?

it's not quite true. if reading from an optical disc, it probably doesn't make much of a difference (write speeds would be limited by read speed), but if reading from an ISO or decrypted backup, writing a huge amount less data would make the process significantly faster, especially if read/writing t...

Re: beta key not working...

this is how it always works. It expires a bit before and a new one is given a few days later. As the saying goes, if one is unhappy with the situation, one can purchase a key.

Re: American Woman - Vertical Entertainment/Lionsgate - Fake Content Hash Table?

if it's a manufactured on demand disc, its probably not encrypted. the protection mechanisms are a) that its very difficult to read with PC bluray players (some standalone plyers also have issues) b) they somehow write invalid data to areas of the disc which cause problems (might relate to a) c) the...

Re: ddrescue shows 0 errors/100% rescued on Libre-enabled drive, but makemkv fails with hashcheck errors

might be a bad memory issue. its also possible that libedrive itself mucks with the content. experiment with a disc that makemkv doesn't complain about and see if the same thing happens (i.e. that you get diffrent checksums each time)

Re: Fault Tolerant BluRay Conversion

if you have access to a non bus encryption drive (though makemkv can help here too), you can start a "protected" copy which will save the metadata needed to decrypt the disc. you then kill it. you then us ddrescue to create an encrypted iso (aacs, not bus) and then extract that iso into th...

Re: Duplicate and missing subtitles from Inside Job

this is a bug I've mentioned multiple times before. MakeMKV is many times attempting to be too smart for its own good and filters out playlists it thinks are duplicates when they really arent. I really want a power use mode that says "don't do any filtering"

makemkv-oss should install the public headers

If makemkv oss is really an oss library that is meant for others to be able to use, it should install the headers so that it can e used as a C library and possibly also include a pkg-config setup, to make it easy to integrate.

thoughts?

Re: how do we retreave the AAC keys

so how does makemkv decrypt a protected backup (regular bluray, not UHD) without the physical disc being inside the drive? I should note, that when I asked this ages ago https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19798&p=75581#p75581 mike didn't say my guess was wrong and that it was ...

Re: how do we retreave the AAC keys

so in other words, there's enough information in the file to calculate the vuk?

is that effectively different that what I said? if all the information needed to calculate the vuk is in the file, I'd argue tht the the vuk is effectively in the file.

Re: how do we retreave the AAC keys

considering you can decrypt a protected bluray backup without the original disc, how does it do that, if it doesn't calculate the vuk in advance?

Re: how do we retreave the AAC keys

no I'm asking how to use the program to extract them and put them in a separate file Nope. Can't be done. MakeMKV does the actual AACS key decryption process behind the scenes just like a standard blu-ray player would. that's not true. If you make a protected backup, I'm pretty sure it stores the V...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

there's been a lot of discussion that dolby vision causes problems for bluray authoring (bitrate limitations that vary based on potions of the disc when one gets into double and triple layers) and there's been much more uptake for it on streaming where it's easier to implement as constant bitrate li...

Re: Does makemkv fully remove region codeing from disc backups?

no, makemkv does not remove any region coding. all a disc backup is an aacs and bd+ (if needed) decrypted version of the contents on the disc. no modifications are made to remove region coding or remove any other form of protections. Many modern discs will play as is (assuming region of player is co...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

ive been thinking this over and it makes sense... Your CX is internally processing HDR via its app correctly, correct colours, correct tone map and as such it looks good. Dolby Vision from the shield is being processed by the shield (player led LLDV) and as such looks a little darker, you also have...
