Actually can I add something to this. I have been ripping my Dr Who DVDs to mkv files and many of the BBC DVDs have had some of the old effects replaced with CGI ones. Using makemkv will not allow me to select the version with the CGI ones; I have had to use a different program tmpGen Xpress which ...

Please see the log window (the lower part of the program screen) for more details - it should specify exact cause of failure. It does not specify anything of the sort, the window is blank. This sounds very badly - the program should just work with BD/HD-DVD. I would much appreciate if you can provi...

Re: DVD (multi angle) > MKV (multi angle) !?

I wonder if your powerful little tool can rip DVDs with multiple angles to MKV containers with multiple angles (maybe as separate video tracks)? Also did you consider making a tool for ripping DVD menus? Currently the tool always selects angle 0. There is no "good" way to put multiple ang...

Re: Error message

Well, Looks like that fixed one problem but now there's another. I have tried 3 movies.... the incredible hulk, deception and pirates of the caribean: world's end. With anydvd not running the log window reads: "The volume key is unknown for this disk - video can't be decrypted Failed to open d...

Re: Error message

Thanks for the reply. I am running anydvd-hd I have ripped with that and with blue-ray disk ripper, they both seem to work fine except they rip directly to m2ts. I think that might be the reason. As silly as it sounds MakeMKV may conflict with AnyDVD. The program has its own Blu-ray decrypting engi...

Re: Conversion

Can MakeMKV convert files that are already ripped to the hard drive? For DVD - absolutely yes. For Blu-ray - it should, but in current version it can likely fail. It also depends on how you ripped the files - if files are encrypted then you will need either VID or VUK, and if you don't know what th...

it is very strange. What kind of drive and OS do you have? Can you open any disk at all (DVD or blu-ray)? Are you administrator?

Hello.

MakeMKV does not change audio/video data during conversion at all. Therefore it is impossible to change output size since it is determined by input size. However it is always possible to re-encode MKV with different parameters and there are many free tools to do just that.

Re: Supported Encryptions

What encryptions can the program get around - both for blu-ray and for dvd's? and what is still unsupported? Program should be able to handle all DVD discs without any problems, even if region code is mismatched. Most Blu-ray discs can be opened, specifically discs that do not use BD+ protection an...

Re: MakeMKV altering Aspect Ratio

Firstly folks, thanks for filling a need and producing this software. Initial impressions have been positive, though I have one question regarding Aspect Ratios and how makemkv handles them. Please bear with me as my technical knowledge is very limited. I initially tested the programme with sevral ...

Re: Help ? Confused?

Hi there, I've been playing over the last couple of weeks to transfer my DVD & Bluray collection to a dedicated Media HDD to stream throughout the house. So far I've found a couple of reputable programs to convert my DVD's ( Mainly to VOB's) but so far I've been unsucessfull with Bluray so I th...
