Re: AACS 2.1 support
@mike admin, I mentioned this already in various unrelated other posts. The mkv file format doesn't cover all features anymore that are available on UHD discs today. Especially DolbyVison and HDR. Therefore I use makemkv only to decrypt UHDs and copy to folder w/o converting to mkv. My opinion is th...

Re: AACS 2.1 support
Excellent point, SamuriHl.
The Christmas wish list for mike gets longer, if you ask me: Making protected ISOs directly from Makemkv.

Re: What is the recommended external UHD drive for use with a AIO desktop?
It's pretty tough these days to find a good enclosure for a 5,25" drive. I also suggest to get an USB3 adapter. Depends on the region what is available. In Europe I suggest the Sharkoon Drive Link Combo U3 V2.

Re: AACS 2.1 support
Yes, I also do full folders to put it on my M9702 media player and I don't convert to MKV for that reason.
Still need the cook book and I don't mind if you call me idiot and mean this is self-explanatory.

Re: AACS 2.1 support
So what? It can't process the disc since the protection is not supported. You mean I have to try that, it fails and only then I can create a protected ISO. That doesn't make sense.
Therefore: Cook book please

Re: AACS 2.1 support
Mike,
you are right.
I still don't get why SamuriHL thinks I'm wrong. Thinking about it I think that I just assumed that the drive is UHD friendly / supported by Libre Drive. Maybe that's his point.

So what's wrong? Please elaborate. Too much text in the last posts that adds confusion.

Re: AACS 2.1 support
So in a nutshell - correct me if I'm wrong.... If there is an unsupported disc using AACS2.1 Load disc Start Makemkv (close AnyDVD before, if active?) Don't do anything further with Makemkv Create protected backup ISO with either Imgburn or Daemon tools Wait until any program supports this disc Load...

Re: AACS 2.1 support
Haven't done it myself but as far as I understand it works this way: Put UHD in optical drive Run Makemkv and do nothing else. It will just enable LibreDrive to circumvent bus encrytion etc. Make a protected ISO with other tools using the drive letter of the optical drive Can please anybody try thi...

Re: AACS 2.1 support
Mike,
I really appreciate that you try that your program is as much as possible compatible with other software. That's not a given since some developpers or companies try to be not.
The question has to go forward to @Marty and / or @TerryRaspin since I stiil have no AACS2.1 disc.

Re: AACS 2.1 support
Mike, I think the answer is quite easy. Making a protected ISO and then mounting it with either Windows 10 or any other tool gives us the opportunity to decrypt it with whatever software that is capable to decrypt this disc first. Be it your software or your competitor's. Sometimes your program is f...
