Re: AppleTV and hevc files
I highly recommend using Infuse Pro for playback. It can connect to Plex Media Server and has built-in support for various container formats and codecs including MKV, TrueHD, DTS, etc. My AppleTV 4K is on wired gigabit and MakeMKV rips play perfectly on Infuse Pro. No transcoding required. I doubt m...

Re: John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum
Just done a run through and makmkv shows this as the FPL_MainFeature 504,512,509,511,518,506,514,519,505,516,507,520,510,502,508,503,501,515,517 - 00396.mpls but after looking it looks like this is the correct one for me. 504,512,509,511,518,514,506,519,505,516,507,520,510,502,508,503,501,515,517 -...

Re: WH16NS40 help
The firmware flasher doesn't bypass the protection. The firmware does. Which means if you flash the LG 1.04 MK version with the ASUS flasher first, it would work. Then you could flash the DE version if you so choose after that. So, it's the same process regardless of which flasher you use. Then tha...

Re: WH16NS40 help
Actually the ASUS modified flasher should flash anything so that doesn't quite make sense. Other than it quite clearly didn't work on your machine, which is definitely strange. The point being it SHOULD have worked to flash your drive. I haven't tried the absolute latest ASUS modified flasher (it w...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Guide Updated 2019
I have these two:
Asus BW-16D1HT (flashed to 3.10 MK)
LG WH14NS40 (flashed to NS60 1.00 DE)
Concur that they're pretty fast. I get 25 MB/s (~5.5x) average and 35 MB/s (~8x) peak ripping UHD66 with these drives so around 45 minutes for dual layer UHD.

I wish MakeMKV would sort titles by playlist order like Handbrake does or at least provide such an option.

Re: I just bought a BC-12D2HT drive that uses 3.11 fw.
maybe the flashers dont like something about your sata chipset or maybe this is a new 3.11 that has even more downgrade checks Latest we have is LG 1.04 MK and Asus 3.10 MK. It seems the OP's drive has newer firmware than those. I reckon the downgrade check on these drives just looks if firmware.bi...

Re: Avengers 4 endgame
I plan on picking up a different drive to try endgame. I’ve tried two different discs, cleaned the hell out of both of them(already brand new out of the box), tried full back up instead of making mkv, saving to usb drive......nothing works. The two disks error out at two different spots. One much f...

Re: Chapter box default selection by application
I'm a bit confused as to what exactly you're referring to. If you meant the Title selection boxes in MakeMKV, right-click -> Unselect all works for me (Windows). If you don't care for extras, you can limit what gets displayed based on length: View -> Preferences -> Video -> Options: Minimum title le...

Re: Unrestricted Read Speed: Possible, Not Yet Enabled
"Unrestricted Read Speed" refers to a riplock - the drive artificially slows itself down if it sees certain files on disc. This is different from media speed table. If my rips max out at ~7-8x with ~5.5x average, does that mean there's no riplock so having this feature enabled wouldn't re...

Re: Original RAW MKV vs. Handbrake Recompression?
All the streaming services (eg, Netflix) use compression. Are you satisfied with the quality of Netflix? It's easier to be forgiving of Netflix quality given its cost and the fact that I didn't spend 30 minutes to 1 hour ripping the disc and then had the PC unusable for hours on end running Handbra...

Tried flashing MK, but still received Failure code #4. :( I guess I'll need to get to a buddy's where I can mount the drive into a desktop in order to complete. Any other adapters/enclosures that are more likely to work than Vantec? I believe you need to crossflash either LG 1.04 MK or Asus 3.10 MK...

Re: Original RAW MKV vs. Handbrake Recompression?
Full Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray quality rips here. Alas, a high quality software encode would take a lot of CPU power which I don't have. Intel QuickSync is acceptable speed-wise but I definitely notice increased macro blocking and color banding with it. Granted, my collection's not as huge as others (...

Re: Better to rip 4k and convert to 1080 or rip 1080
is it better to only rip 4k and then just convert a copy of it to 1080 and compress it, or is it going to bring on more artifacts than just using the 1080p version they've already given me on the other disc? Depends. You can compress from 4K to 1080p with higher quality than 1080p Blu-ray. Problem ...
